It will depend what you are looking for.
    Strength's..it has great dynamic power.
weakness it's some what bright...doesn't mate with many types of speakers.
I will say this about Yamaha...they make a good product for the money, they never over rate there power rating's.They are powerfull receiver's..all of them.

    Yes,
the newer series Polks with the redone tweeter sounds real good.the I series, the older Polks sound slightly bright to me with Yamaha.Unless you own the RXV1,that seems to be the warmest receiver they ever made.

I OWN THE 800 AND IT IS A GREAT RECEIVER FOR THE MONEY, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT YOU CAN PICK ONE UP FOR $475-500 ON EBAY. I USE YAMAHA AMPS WITH MINE, BUT DID USE IT FOR A WEEK OR 2 BY ITSELF AND IT SOUNDED GREAT PUSHING SDA-C's! IMO YOU WILL LOVE IT?
