Have you tried ultrasonic mole spikes? My local Ace Hardware sells them.
It might be more enviromentally friendly if thats your sort of thing!
Good luck with the "fuzzy tree rats"... they are tenacious little buggers and you have to be really attentive to any entry point that they can find to enter your house. Dont underestimate them, they can fit into impossibly small holes and crevices!
