Rotel vs ???

I am looking to either selling my Rotel 1080 and adding a five channel amp or keeping the Rotel and adding a 3CH amp. If I add a 3CH, I would look at the RB-993 and keep the power consistent for all 5 channels. Adding a 3CH or purchasing a 5CH and staying with Rotel, works out to be about the same $$. Either way it is 200WPC. The question is, has anyone compared the Rotel line to other multi-channel amps for HT. This will only be used for HT and not 2CH music. Just considering my options at this point in time. Thanks folks.

Since your use will only be HT 1095 should be an easy solution. However, if music is ever in the future, 1080 is opined to be better for music. For me, I would get the 993. That way, you can have various options of reconfiguration open to you....
System 1: Martin Logan Vantage, Rotel RC 1070, B&K Reference 200.2, Music Hall DAC 15.2, Yamaha 2300

    System 2: LSi15 w/db840, Marantz SR8400, Rotel 1080, RM6800 (C&S), Sony X2020ES

System 3: LSi7, Yamaha SW215, Music Hall Maven, Music Hall MMF CD25 w/627opamps

System 4: RTi100, Harman Kardon AVR 230, Panasonic DVD

So do you believe there are no other amps that compare to the 1095? Staying in the 1095 price range that is.

Music is in the future (or should I say better music than today), but 2CH will be driven with something like NAIM and not Rotel.

I ownn the RMB1095 and it is very musical. I t has plenty of headroom, power, current and I have 86db 4ohm load speakers. It smiles at them and plays really well. No strain or heat issues.

Just get it and don't look back. For 2k I don't see any amp being better. You have to spend more to get more.

Thanks Dan. That has been the route I have been looking. I will probably look for a used one down the road.
