Haven't read through this thread yet (though I definitely will!), so I hope this isn't a repeat, but...

The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker

EDIT - Just did a quick search on them and found out they're definitely too new to be classic rock...had no clue...but they're still a great choice!

Cranked out to some Who and Boston tonight... man.. those are some awesome musics! :D

I am kinda overwhelmed with the lists people throw up here... I am not a heavy rock lover... so I am little leary at first of just buying something and kinda hating it.

Although... watched "Yes Man" tonight and there were several rock songs on there that I just loved.... can't name them though. The opening scene and one toward the end. Anybody know the band??

Hmmm a google search reveals that most of the music on the soundtrack is from the Eels... I have never heard of them. And I don't think that was the opening band number, but what do I know.

Anyone ever heard of the Eels? :D

Ok, how about Pat Travers (awesome live performer).

    Or Contraband.

Yeah - If I can recall from the smoky haze of my memory....he was knocked out...by a chunk of Mahogany...and woke up with the talent to emulate Hendrix...hence the name of his band.

At the time - a decent diversion with some catchy riffs.

I saw him in concert with Sabbath...oh...back in the late 70s.

Nektar performed the entire album of Remember the Future and a bunch of songs from Tab in the Ocean in 2005 in front of a crowd of about 300. Outstanding concert.

Not sure about Mahogany Rush's origins but Ironhorse was Randy Bachman from BTO fame.
You Gotta Let Go was a big hit here in St. Louis in 1979-80

Certainly not all music produced and recorded in the sixties and seventies was bad. I have a live recording of BB King "Live at The Reagle Theater", recorded in 1964 that is fantastic IMO. But like stated many times in this forum, music is a very subjective thing, and each person has there own particular tastes.

    I could add a few to some greats already mentioned;

    Tapestry-Carol King
    Back in Black- AC/DC
Born in the USA- Bruce Springstein
"They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde
