Definitive, Klipsch, SV Subs?? What to do!?

I have been reading a lot here about SV subs and others, but have heard little mention of Definitive or Klipsch subs. The reason I bring them up is they both seem to get very good reviews in the magazines. I really want to hear what I'm buying and cannot do that with the SV subs. I'm looking at buying a pair of subs to help set-up a little. I like deep, accurate, tight bass-I dont listen to rap! Any thoughts??

Klipsch and Def Tech arnt even in the same league when it comes to Subs.
Sorry- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
i suggest you go to your local Best Buy or other store that carries the sub brands you are interested in.. and maybe a few others as well. After that.. if you're not happy with any of them.. consider buying a SVS sub. they have 30 days return on them.. so if after you try it in your home. you don't like it.. send it back. (You may have to pay for return shipping though).
I'm in the middle of trying out a Outlaw Audio pre amp.. i get 30 days to return it if I don't like it too. Sometimes with internet based companies... that's the best way to go about it.
Or find someone in your area who owns an SVS and buy them a case of their favorite beverage and ask for a demo. I've had a few members from here over for demo's. It's helpful to hear it in a real home theater set up.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Actually you have 45 days, and in many cases I'm sure they will extend it if your not happy. I bought my SVS PCU's blind folded, and I'll never look back! Talk about in your face bass, that scares my wife!:D SVS has outstanding customer service. Even ask Ron... I think I returned like 3 subs until I was finally happy with the PCU's. Not that they were defective, not the case at all, it was the WAF and matching the subs wood to my HT buffet.

I think SVS is better....I don't know that...but everybody here like them.
In other case, prefer Klipsch over Definitive. My current new system (step by step )

The best way to buy a sub is to look at the speaker package and gear you own and try to match a sub to it. Many speaker companies make there own subs that match there speakers. While I don't think this is always the best way to go, it's a great place to start.
Consider your room. What size sub will fit. How much power do you need, etc.
All the companies you mention make ok woofers. I have found other compaines to do a better job. Velodyne, Martin Logan, Rel are the 3 I would consider when buying a sub. Not in any order but they are the ones that earned my respect for what they can do.
If a Musical sub your after, then look no further then Rel and Martin Logan. They do music right.
As said, going to the stores and really listening will help you decide. SVS can be demo'd in your home. They are really big sub but if you like the way they perform, then thats your option.

Well I went and listened to the Klipsch subs and was disappointed, too boomy and not very musical-obviously made for movies. The definitive was a little better but I can tell I'm going to have to go to a big city with lots of dealers to find what I'm looking for. A Paradigm sub was actually better than both in my opinion. Good tight musical bass is what I'm after and plan on using two subs near my mains, so I can go with two smaller subs which I think would respond faster and tighter.
