If you have the room for it, try spacing the RTi's out as wide as they are far from where you sit.

It should be an equilateral triangle in ideal circumstances.

This should make the stereo image much larger and give you nicer separation.

I've been pondering a pair of these vs RTi 6's...

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. I plan to play with them some tonight so I'll give that a shot. :D

Ok, I have about 8' from the TV to our sitting position on the couch. If I spread the speakers out that far, they're going to get hit/run in too/knocked over, etc at some time. I'm just going to keep them closer to the TV, but toe them in as shown in this pic.

Also, the receiver is running between 80 degrees (F) and 120 degrees (F). I do not hear the receivers internal fan running BTW.

Yup, unfortunately we all can't have a custom media room heh.

Did you notice any improvement with the increased spacing?

I had not bothered with my setup and just adding a foot or so as you did made quite a difference for me.

Maybe a little. I don't think my ears are trained well enough just yet. :o

ok, to answer your question with the AVR 635.... It will run hot no matter how much space you give it but, everyone is correct in suggesting about 3 more inches of room above the receiver. Do not worry about room beside the receiver because heat rises more than it radiates in this particular situation. I have about 6" of free space above my receiver with an open back to my equipment rack but it has a glass door on the front. I guess it costs $150 at BB but I got it at a garage sale for $5.00 because the stupid glass door for the CD compartment was missing. Back to the point, when I put my hand behind the the rack but slightly above the receiver I can swear I can feel the heat rolling up and around the shelf. If I put my hand directly on the receiverafter it has been used hard for about an hour it will literaly burn my skin. I don't necesarily consider this to be bad because there is nothing that can be done about it and I am sure it will work fine for 10 years withought problems. Now with that fan comment that you asked about. I believe you said that the fan never turns on. This is good because there is no fan inside the 635 models. In fact the only model that has a fan is the 7300. If you read enough reviews you will find out that this fan can be loud and that is what turned me off from the 7300 and on to the 635 is the dead silent operation and the fact that the fan will probably distribute more dust within the receiver than one withought a fan. Good luck and enjoy that HK quality sound.

Ok, I put the satellite receiver on top of the TV (where my future center channel was supposed to go :o). This allowed me to raise the shelf enough to give the H/K 2.5" clearance between it's top and the bottom of the shelf. In the end, I'm going to have to get another TV/electronics stand. My wife mentioned getting a flatscreen TV down the road since we're investing in this nice audio equipment so I'll probably try to find a entertainment center to put everthing in (plus future equipment).

What can I do to improve the FM radio reception with this receiver? I had a Kenwood shelf system before this receiver and it picked up the same channel I'm having problems with clearly. I'm moved the antenna wire around but this hasn't improved reception at all.

Best thing to do for better radio reception is to go down to walmart or radioshack or any place like these and purchase a an amplified antenna. They will run close to $30 I believe. The cheaper ones I think are less $$.

according to reviews and info on the net, not to mention I think my manual states there is a fan in the 335 therefore I would have to think the 635 has a fan.
