Matt Polk, Justin, or Micah:
A lot of people seem to be interested in the PSW1200 - a discontinued flagship sub. I have the PSW650 - while its a fine sub, its output is certainly not overwhelming.
Why did Polk drop this sub?
Why won't Polk bring it back?
I'm sure a lot of people would like to know.
Thanks.

I think Paul commented on this at one point.......essentially, the point was that it didn't have enough broad consumer support to justify it's existence......

What about a new LSI sub that enhances the LSI experience."The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."

Guys... you're only wasting your breath begging Polk CEO's or
Matt Polk for bringing it back this SUB ~ its history ~ like SDA's
so why you don't turn on SERVO-15 like some people says:

I have a PSW1200. I've heard the Servo-15.
PSW1200 is a very good subwoofer, but the Servo-15 is hands-down better.

I am very disappointed in finding this sub so I'm turn my
sight to SERVO-15!

Har-navalata,
So, two opposing 12" woofers aren't as good as one
15" servo-controlled woofer?
Is the Paradigm just tighter... or, is it louder too?
I agree... I really like the servo-15 (sweeeet sound).
I've never heard the 1200. My PSW650 is a little on the
weak side - imo.

I currently purchased the PSW 650. I really want the PSW 1200 but there's no chance to own one. I never heard the PSW 1200 or the Servo-15 to tell which one is better. I'm just relying on people's reviews on them. This weekend, I will go to a local dealer to audition the Servo-15 then I can tell what ever the Servo-15 is.

I agree,
We need a better sub in the line to match the LSI.Aub isn't a sub unless it can play down to 20hz.
The psw1200 was Polks best sub to date.
The psw650 as flagship......no..........a fine woofer but not a great sub.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I would look at the Vandersteen 2Wq (or others) if you would consider purchasing a PSW1200 (if you could find one). Polk makes great speakers (LSi series); other companies make better subs.
Vandersteen 2W series subs -
I agree that there needs to be an LSi-type sub. I think that in thier price points that Polk subs compete very well. Having said that, I opted for the Paradigm though.
I would tend to think along the lines of quality over quantity.....I would say that a sub that plays down into the mid 20's, and does it well would be very sufficient, especially if the primary focus is on being musical. Building a sub that will thump at 20hz doesn't neccesarily make it a good sub.

Since that was my quote, about the Servo-15 vs. the PSW1200, I think I should say again that the PSW1200 is a very good subwoofer and that I'm very pleased with it.
For what a Servo-15 costs, I could have bought two PSW1200's (at the price I paid) and had enough money left over for a decent CD changer. Point is, it SHOULD sound better. It's very well constructed, is a SEALED box, with sophisticated electronics and a powerful amp. The sealed box and the servo control help give the Servo-15 excellent transient response, even with the large driver. Paradigm claims that it's response is flat to about 18Hz, and accurate down to 10Hz--- Compared to a bottom end of about 22 Hz on the Polk. Max output-wise, they're very close.
That said, you don't listen to specifications---- What I heard is that the Servo-15 has more oomph! on the super-low, seat shaking notes and still sounds very controlled and musical.
I think the PSW1200 compromises a little bit on the lowest notes in exchange for tighter control of the slightly higher material. I think it's hard to acheive both with a ported design.
Sorry for the rambling--- I just though I should clarify WHY I think the Servo-15 is better.
Jason
--and to add, I think Aaron's absolutely right about the reason for the PSW1200's demise-- Circuit City couldn't move them, Crutchfield couldn't ship them- 'cause they're HUGE. Perhaps if they'd been marketed at higher-end audio shops...
