I like the black colour for receivers, cassette decks, synths and speakers.

The silver for TV's and DVD players.

Gold..not like...maybe the DVD players in gold are elegant...;)

Can't stand the silver. It's a cold color, and I want my house to have a warm feel to it. I avoid it like the plague.

i actually prefer silver electronics, if only because it tends to look better with the wifey's fascist color schematics:p
sometimes, black can look "junky" and "cheap", but this may all be resulting from repressed childhood trauma caused by my first Fisher monoblock stereo:D
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I think taht "black color" is the preference of people of 22/23 years to up.

The new generation of silver cases for electronics, are made for replacing the blacks and like more to guys under 20/22. Anyway, always have exceptions !!

I think it is more important that all components match.
    All silver or all gold.
    With that I chose Black.
I like black because it is subtle. It sits there waiting to be seen and admired.

Black all the way. And I second Skynut's comment about all of the components matching! A MUST!

Kinda like having cherry fronts, high gloss black sub, and black surrounds... just not cool or classy.

    BLACK for cases. ;)

i like black, nice and neutral, does not really draw your eye to the electronics (never really thought the equipment rack was something i like to look at).

i do like the idea of having one piece of gear in another color to stand out. i think it would look really cool to have an all black rack and then a nice bright silver tube pre or tube amplifier. :D

as for speakers, i like a nice light wood, no black and definately no piano gloss (yuck!) :p

Black, every other color is a distraction.

Black combines with silver and gold.

Silver combines with black, but NO with gold (ugly!!!)

    Gold, viceversa !!!! :)

Hmmm....several years ago, I complained there weren't any silver-colored components. Now that we have it, I kind of like the black ones better. :D

I don't think we get much gold-colored components in this country. I think those are availble more in Asian countries.

Black, all the way. It disappears. Silver is too bright and distracting, gold/champagne is just gawdy IMHO.

It's true. Really the "gold" finish maybe will be rename for "champagne" finish.
Compared to silver, this gold finish is far less bright. No distract to you and is very very elegant. (Looks great with a black amplifier)

I am suprised that most of the black do NOT want to "show off" your gear. In most of the pictures everything is on a stand right next to the TV? As for me, Silver all the way. My TV matches all DVD and reciever, as well as the trim on the black rti's. AND..my furniture is light beech with Silver supports. Now only if they made brushed nickel it would match my ceiling fans. ;)

I like to show off my gear but I don't like to call attention to it.
When my friends see what is in the rack they become interested but I don't like to point it out.
If I did I would add a strobe light or arrows pointing towards the rack. Perhaps even led's chasing around the front of all the equipment. :D

    haha..sarcastic :D

The racks in silver call more attention, but the "black finish" is more..."PRO"

Anyway, i prefeer combine the black eq. with gold instead black eq. with silver.

I like Silver. I didnt use to, but now I wouldnt have it any other way. Now i will agree, plastic silver faceplaces (as does black) look very cheap... but a niced brushed aluminum face plate (silver) looks freaking SWEET. I love my main components and their brushed aluminum finishes...

I voted black and most of my gear is black, but I do like silver if it's not too bright, like the Jolida JD-100 and the Dodd MLP. They look great mixed with the black gear!!
