simple remote suggestion needed

After replacing my yamaha with another yamaha rcvr, rx-v1200, my cable box remote doesn't work quite right with it. I can't turn it off/on. I was looking at perhaps a simple Sony 5 device remote. I have a sony tv, dvd, scientific atlantic explorer 3000 cable box, and the yamaha v1200. Any suggestions?

i use an av producer 8. there hasn't been one command it wouldn't do. the thing is great for the money. not sure if they are still making them, but there is one on ebay now. buy it now for $19:

I have that remote, and I have the earlier model from rs the 15-1994.

I have been very pleased with these remotes. They control everything at full capacity. DVD, TV, Cable box, CD player, VHS.

The only thing it does not control well is my receiver. I can control the volume and some basic functions.

But overall well worth the money spent.

Also head on over to http://remotecentral.com/ and some very nice people over there can also help you with remote questions. Very good site IMHO.

thanks for the tip. I just saw that site a few days ago. My head is spinning with the remotes out there.
