First of all I have a set of Polk R30 Floorstanding speakers and I'm using them with a Kenwood VR-906 6.1 100 Watt Per Channel RMS*6 reciever. From what I have gathered about the r30's they have a 150 watt peak. So if I run uder that amout on the reciever I should be fine. But If i use a small amount over that will I fry the tweeter, woofer, or whole speaker.

Actually, acording to the manual, the R30s are 20-100 watts (the web page going to 150 may be wrong). They do overpower easily, I have done it with an hk avr630.

You can fry a speaker with an underpowered reciever just as easily with an overpowered receiver. The thing not to do, is to turn up the volume to where the sound from the speakers is distorted or clipped.

i'm pretty sure the r30's are 100 watts and the r50's are 150. the polk website and the manuals are different for a few of the polk models.

Wattage specs really don't mean a whole lot. As mentioned above, distortion(clipped signals) is what actually kills speakers. It is rare that overpowering, in itself, will actually damage a speaker. With a "low" powered amplifier, you reach the amps limitations at a lower volume setting than you would with a "high" powered amp.
