New 52"

Me and the Mrs. bought a new big screen TV on Wednesday - Mitsubishi WD52528. It was delivered Friday morning and that was when we realized that we needed to re-arrange the room to accomodate the new TV.
We also had to run out and get a stand since our original placement plan wasn't going to work anymore. While we were out the TV had plenty of time to acclimate - not that it needed it - we didn't fire it up until late that night (cleaned and re-arranged all day). When the time finally came to enjoy our new toy it was about eight o'clock at night.
I was less than impressed with the picture quality. Major screen door effect and a very pixelated picture especially with fast action. It takes a very long time to change channels with the over-the-air HD antenna - minimum of 4 seconds. I've also noticed a very faint white / grey blur located on the upper center area of the screen whenever the screen is black (whether it is on or off). DirecTV was excellent on the old 27" JVC I'Art CRT but it looks like crap on the new 52" LCD.
I was seriously thinking about sending this sucker back until my wife asked me to try using the Avia DVD - which I did today. It took me about an hour to an hour and a half to calibrate it. I've got to admit that it looks ten times better than it did but IMHO the JVC still looks better. I'm still not convinced this is a keeper but I can't go back to a 27" screen now. If this does end up going back I've got two other sets I'm considering:
Toshiba HM95
Samsung 5067W
Any other sets in this price and size range worth considering?
Thanks for any input

The most recent articles I've read seemed to suggest that LCD tvs arnt very good past 32".... at that size I'd get a sony SXRDMy Iron Man training/charity blog.

While I agree that the Sony SXRD would be an excellent choice, it is an LCD technology.
To me, though, it looks considerably better than the 720p rear projection lcd's I've seen.
A side by side comparison of the mitsu 1080p dlp and the sony sxrd did not prove to provide a clear winner.
The reviews, along with the actual viewing experience, would probably point towards putting the sony in my house if there ever was an opportunity.Tschüss

Check out the JVC HD-ILA sets. I bought one in december and luv it. Great pq, no screen door, no motion blurr, flawless. You might want to do a search on the samsung, I believe someone here had mucho problems with one recently.Everytime I think I'm out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!!!!!
Polk 70's,40,30's
Velo DLS 3500 Sub
JVC 61" HD-ILA
Sony DA4ES AVR
Oppo 981 DVD
Sony CDP-CX235 CD
Signal Bi-wires
AR ProII IC's -
Yeah, the JVC would be my second choice. The new 1080p versions are very similar in picture quality to the sony, both using a version of liquid crystal on silicon.
If you want a really good picture, check out the jvc pro 61". Of course, with a grand picture, comes a grand price tag.
For the price, I'd still go with the Sony.Tschüss
