I would think the Crossfire would be plenty adequate.

Crossfire rules! I swear by em! They have major respect as an SPL amp by making oodles of power and Im doing my part to earn repect for em in the SQ world too.

The thing is however, Crossfire doesnt make a 100x4 amp so I dont know what brand youre talking about. The biggest 4 channel Crossfire makes is the VR404 which is a very underrated 50x4.

Sure they do... vr804 (2005 Catalogue). Maybe they don't produce those anymore or my Catalogue is on Cocaine...

is the VR404 (50x4) enough to drive the MMC6500...?
I'm thinking about adding a MM2124 to replace the old DX (powered with a Crossfire VR402)

    Here's a little something I made yesterday

Huh! Thats a new one on me. There is no VR804 listed on their website. I mustve got into Crossfire right after they quit making those.

Thing to remember about Crossfire is that they are insanely underrated. Their 600 watt amp makes over 700, their 2000 watt amp makes over 3200!! So that 100x4 is more than likely closer to 150x4.

As for the 50x4, it would be enough to push the MMC6500's, but if you bi-amp them it would be perfect.

MMC6500 and MM2124 are on the way... I just have to wait 6 weeks... lol
I'll get a VR404 to biamp the fronts and a VR402 for the sub...

mmm... I'm thinking about a false floor installation...

Man, that's goind to be an awesome system. A false floor would be very cool, too.

Hmm...with all that extra weight, you're gonna need some engine mods! :p

I used to have a Crossfire amp in my old Tbird many moons ago, a CFA-404 IIRC (50x4). The front channels drove MB Quart 5.25" coaxials in the doors, and the rear channels were originally going to be bridged to two 8-ohm Eclipse 12's in the trunk. The shop ran out of 8-ohm ones, so we went ahead and ran 4 ohm ones stereo in the meantime. Dog gone it if that didn't sound magnificent. Plenty of bass for real-world music, and once I got the levels dialed in the fidelity was superb. I didn't feel like I was needing any more power. That amp was dead-nuts reliable, too. Best sounding music I ever had in a car, that system handled any style of music I threw at it. And the rock version of "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" from Mannheim Steamroller's "Christmas" album was stunning to behold on it...the close-miked hi-hat sounded real without sounding shrill or harsh. Great amp, and was affordable, too.
