So why all the dust collecting for some good gear? I can understand some back up units but why aren't the rest in the Flea Market?

I have a Yamaha CD plyr, a Kenwood M1d amp and an old Sansui equalizer...should get rid of some of these...but too darn busy..

I don't have an "audio closet", what I do have is a drawer in our filing cabinet with only one piece of gear in it, my old Kilpsch 5.1 dts/dd decoder. I'm keeping that for backup just incase my Outlaw 950 every goes down. Other then that I don't have any extra gear, I sell it off so I can upgrade.

I guess I could add that I've got a set of SDA2's just sitting in the bedroom without anything hooked up to them, so I guess they would qualify. I haven't actually heard them yet, since I am interconnectless, but they will be brought out soon.

i dunno. i can't remember the model #, it was probably only in the mix about a year or so and this stuff is buried. must be early 80's vintage. i can't remember, but maybe, a few hundred bucks back then with military overseas base exchange discount. so, it wasn't high end, but it wasn't insecure in the presence of cheap belt drive duals either.

it had some sort of, i think, ir sensor on the headshell and it would find the shiny part between tracks. it found the right tracks on most albums, not so great on others. i think live albums were more likely to give it trouble.

Yup.. linear tracking TT from Technics if memory serves...

And what do you know... it still serves.. at least for useless trivia like this.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/TECHNICS-SL-6-LINEAR-TURNTABLE-BEAUTIFUL_W0QQitemZ5862103837QQcategoryZ64626QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It had a remote and everything. A very low power, Laser beam was used to find the space between tracks. Those sections would reflect the beam while grooves of a tune scattered the beam. Pretty clever idea... but the build quality was not great.

    EDIT: TECHNICS SL-6 - Manufacture Years: 1982 - 1984
