What's in your audio closet ?

The audio closet I'm refering to is stash of equipment relegated to a closet or storage area that perhaps has been replaced by another unit, or unused because you have too many, or just plain outdated/broken stuff.

Mine isn't all that fascinating as some hardcore collectors probably have some great stuff.

Yamaha P-300 TT w/ Shure V-15 V cartridge
Realistic 12 band EQ-why this is taking up space I have no idea (yuck)
Pioneer F-5 digital tuner (perhaps a 1st generation digi tuner)
Pioneer DVD-333 (plays cd's but not DVD's)
Toshiba SD-2900 DVD player Brand New (cheapie as a back-up in case I need one)
Nakamichi CR-1A cassette deck
Nakamichi OMS-4A cdp with malfunctioning laser assembly

Certainly not any pot-o-gold stuff here :p

I have a Pioneer Laserdisc player and a Technics DD processor. Oh, and a ton of various a/v cables. Nothing interesting here.

I have a slew of AudioControl equalizers. I don't know why but I went nuts one night and bought enough to do a home theater. Lets see, two 30 band mono's and I think one other 30 band stereo and a 10 band stereo. I even got a 30 band spectrum analyzer to go with them. Get this, I hate EQ's...

A few Soundcraftsmen amplifiers, a couple AudioControl Epicenters (the home ones) and a few subwoofer crossovers.

I can't remeber the number of 4" drivers, maybe 60 or so, to make an SDA line array speaker and 10 tweets, a 15" PR, seven 12" subs, three 10" subs, a "Voice of the Theater" style bass cabinent, a bunch of power centers. A sony CD player. Some old surround processor, a pioneer TT, 4 jbl bookshelves, two b&w's. R2R recorder, tons of AudioControl car pieces, 10 car amps. Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. I should hit the flea market and unload some of these treasures...

I got nothing good. Some lame weak AV cables. Miles of CAT5 cable. Some junky Kenwood integrated. All my current in use CDPs should be closet material, but sadly, they are in use.

    Right now,
Onkyo A-809 amp, Onkyo T-407 tuner, a Marantz CD-63SE with mods, a pair of Polk RT25i, a Realistic ST-870 reciever, a pair of vintage Apache Petite speakers with a blown tweeter, a Pioneer DV-440 (plays DVD, but not CD), a few VCRs, a Panasonic 5-disk DVD player (works fine but doesn't recognize CD-R), tons of cables, some old car audio gear from the early 90s.

Before anyone asks, I'm not selling any of this. The first three items are slated for my "inexpensive" two-channel system and the RT25i are going to be mounted soon in my living room for rear surrounds (as soon as I brave the attic to run cable), the Realistic reciever and the Apache speakers will go in my garage as soon as I get some replacement parts. The other stuff isn't worth selling.

I'd like to see what Mr. Grand has in his "magic closet."
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Most everything sony I own is in storage and I'm not sure why.
I have a 5 disc dvd changer that only plays cd's, a cheapo avr, a pretty nice cassette player round out the unused sonies.
I'm holding onto my Onkyo M282 amp for my bedroom or garage rig.
My Polk line up of unused is a pair of RT55's (minus 1 tweeter), RT35I's, RT2000p, CS400i, and FX500i's.(all for the bedroom eventually)
I also have enough decent cables to hook up everything and still have leftovers.

The next step is to replace my Onkyo avr for a Sherbourn pre/pro in the main rig so the Onkyo can complete what I need for the bedroom.
Oh and I am seriously studying power conditioners so I can get either a better one in the main rig or just one for the bedroom.

    :D

LOL....looks like several people have entire rigs and more not in use.

Actually the Pioneer Elite needs a $130 repair for a popping noise when changing inputs. I plan on using that in the new home we will be building.
The Dual turntable I will probably be selling. It's the 704 w/ V15 type III but no stylus currently. It needs some adjustments for the on/off mechanism that ties in with the tone arm but other than that is in pretty nice condition. I bought it new in '79.
The Sherwood CDP plays but has a problem finding the track list occasionally and makes a rat-tat-tat-tat sound for a few seconds till it finds it and one of the fixed outputs needs to be resoldered but plays fine using the variable outputs. I pretty much have no use for it anymore.
The HK CDP is going on Ebay this evening as well as the DAC. Just for **** and grins I put the HK on my main rig the other day and it sounded damn nice.
The Marantz and Advents will eventually be hooked up somewhere in the new house....maybe with the Sherwood CDP which makes a very nice little combination. Sometimes I think I enjoy it better than the main rig.

It's the HD7600 II...probably the best one they made. Retailed for $500 back in the early '90's. It's a single player with fixed and variable outputs as well as optical and coax digital outs. I hooked it up to the Audio Alchemy DAC the other day and I liked the sound of the HK DAC much better. It's got a real nice proprietary single bit DAC with a very hi-speed clock. Built like a tank at around 20lbs. I have no idea of it's worth. That's why I was just going to put it on Ebay and let them bid away.
