Open apology for all the environmentalist

I consider myself a courteous man, when using a public head. I flush at least 5 times during a session on the throne.

I bring this up because of this. I use the throne at least twice a day, regularity exists in me. So I figure with some quick math at 1.5 Gall per flush, I use about 15 Gallons per/day, or about 5500 gallons per year.

Just a while ago, I was sitting down, taking in a deuce, and in comes another, sits in the stall next to me and sits there for what seemed like forever, sounding like a lawn mower that just came out of storage after a long cold winter, and to my surprise never flushed once until he was done. The smell was unbearable, and kept me on the throne longer than I needed to be, but I was not sure if I was going to have to release my noon chow, ala in the style of Karen Carpenter, (no offense).

So we both get done, and as we are washing our hands I ask. “Why don’t you give a courtesy flush every once in while to hold down the scent of yesterday’s beans and cheese burrito?” He tells me “Gy, my mom and dad used to tell us to conserve water, and we all need to do our part in saving the environment”

What about saving the yuk factor for those that are next to you, or for those that may be coming after you?

Anyway, I guess I am missing something here, but then again all things equal he only uses 1100 gallons of water per year.

I am going to continue my trend of abusing the water, so here is my apology for using our precious resource of water..

Signing off :D

Depending on what meal is coming out, sometimes it takes several flushes (and possibly plunges) just to get that badboy through the pipes. If those enviromentalists have a problem with that, they are more than welcome to come in and retrieve it from the crapper once i've dumped it to conserve the water. If not and they still have a problem, they are more than welcome to kiss my arse while i'm making my deposit in the First National **** Savings and Loan!

been there, done that. and i'm a bit lactose intolerant. weird that i'm only 'a bit' intolerant. but i have done that many a time before laying my sweet head down to sleep. only thing i've ever gotten was a serious urge to piss in the wee hours of the morn. i hate that. makes it so i cannot sleep in.

In public it's your patriotic duty to give the courtesy flush. I am a water conservatoire though so at home my motto is, if it's yellow it's mellow but if it's brown it's going down. I also conserve by not showering every single day (a very strange but typical wasteful American practice) , turning the water off while brushing teeth or soaping hands until it's time for the rinse cycle, etc.

Every extra flush puts that mist all over you and your clothes so who comes out wreaking more, the fat guy who leaves it there for another to admire or the person that flushes all that splash mist all over themselves 3 or 4 times per visit?

    Food for thought. (eww)

Can't say that I ever thought about it.

I will say that I have one of those water saving toilets downstairs, I believe it's 1 GPF. It is the absolute worst toilet on earth, anything more than a single wad and the thing backs up requiring the plunger. Therefore, it must be flushed a multitude of times during the event, which totally negates the intended purpose. I'd love to meet the idiot that designed it.

I haul water to a Cistern so I know all about water conservation....Its a very precious commodity, to me anyway.

Yes we've had drillers out here looking for water but just can't come up with any viable source. I can go down a thousand feet and get all the water I need but its around 40 grand to do it....

There's a big water development plan going on for my area and there in the process of building the plant but probably won't see the line out here for a few more years...

Interesting choice of thread to bring back from the dead ... I'm not sure I want my name to be associated with the O.P.'s topic in any way ...

Actually, on our last water bill, we got a credit for conservation. We've been in official mandatory conservation mode here for about a year now (a majority of our water is imported): watering yards is only allowed twice a week for fifteen minutes each, and we are not able to wash cars at all except in a water recycling facility (so not at home, obvioulsy).

Anyway, the bill stated that we had used fewer than 11 units, so we would get a credit. The credit was $0.10 per unit, and we only used four, so our total credit was $0.40. What an incentive, don't you think?
