Just getting back into audio after 10 years out of the game. Wow!! lotsa changes, huh?
I have a pair of 24-year-old Polks (ser. # 4 06697 and 4 06698). They have been "on the beach" for at least 10 years. After hooking up, found that one has RADICALLY lower volume, and sounds much thinner. Switched the input cables to make sure it was the box, and not the input signal. Tried bypassing the crossover (or whatever that big block of copper wire is), and that had no positive effect. It almost seems like the woofer is trashed, but can't see any obvious problems with it. If it is the woofer or the crossover, are these parts still available, and how do I go about getting them?
Thanks for any suggetstions.
Dave

You've got Monitor 4's. Anything rattling around in the cabinet? Like maybe a magnet?
