hell, Andre Rison has nearly identical career numbers as Irvin, and no one would even consider uttering Hall of Fame and Andre Rison in the same breath
(and if i'm not mistaken, Rison has a super bowl ring to boot)
Irvin is just louder, flashier, and more visible -- and he played on "America's team"
Art Monk????
until the Hall of Fame recognizes him -- zero credibilty
and Lynn Swann?
check out his numbers, he's in the Hall and those stats are paltry (could it be his iconic catch?)
the Hall of Fame committee is a farce, plain and simple
The Packers might not have a Superbowl win in 1996 if it wasn't for Andre Rison. A total asshat of a man in life, but he came in for a new start in Green Bay and was the model citizen while he was here, not much he could really get his nose into up there, but he did what he was hired to do. He started becoming a headcase and was let go.
All I have to say is Rison was a HUGE part of that Superbowl team in 96. -
I, personally, think that the HOF shouldn't be about what a player does off the field, but on it. I could care less if they are jerk, I don't idolize players. They have talent, and therefore play the sport. But that doesn't mean just 'cause you are a jerk, you shouldn't be recognized. I care about how they played the game they played. This whole a monk should be in the NFL HOF before Irvin is just stupid talk.
If it was about who's the nicest, no talent would be in there...
EDIT: Oh ya, Andre Rison played on my team (Chiefs) and tho he was a cancer, I was sad when he left. One great player IMO, who could make BIG plays.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

Irvin was supported by Aikmen and a dominant offensive line
Atlanta's O-line was a sieve and their quarterbacks aspiring fly-fisherman...
Rison truly is one of the most unrecognized wide receivers in recent history
except when his house his burning down of courseI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
