For any of you folks that have HT and auto calibration (like the Yamaha YPAO), is there any need for a SPL meter or is the YPAO considered sufficient for calibration. Thanks.

The auto calibration is fine as long as the room is quite during calibration. An SPL meter is for manual calibration which I perfer over the Auto. Pioneer Elite is the only Receiver based auto calibration that seems to work correctly.Yamaha and Denon seem to be behind in this technlogy. Yamaha in my opnion sounds worse after the calibration.

It's not a bad Idea to buy a SPL meter and try it yourself
