Denon DVD-1920 Review in progress

Just replaced my Panasonic DVD-A310 with a Denon DVD-1920. I'm breaking it in as I am typing (4th CD in progress). I connected to the receiver using optical cable and to the TV with super video cable. The only difference in the way I hooked it up is the optical vs digital coax. This allowed me to hook my cable digital out (coax) to my other digital input on my older receiver.
I played a couple DVD's to check the picture, it looked outstanding and the menus displayed were good.
Then I started playng some of my favorite CD's and I am quite pleased. The sound seems less harsh and the quiet passages are very silent. The sound just seems warmer.
I would have gotten the 2910 but this seemed to have all the features for hundreds less. Let me know if anyone else has any suggestions or experience with this product. Thanks for reading.

If you really want to hear the 1920, run a high quality pair of Analog Ic's to the cd input.
The video is much better then your old Panasonic.

I just returned a Denon 5-disc changer in order to purchase the 2910. However, if the 1920 is almost as good, then I might go with that - please let me know how your review of the 2 go ... thanks!!

:p I am still happy with the 1920. I had lots of experience with the Fleetwood Mac "The Dance" DVD in Dolby Digital and I was able to use more of my volume knob on my receiver than I thought possible. I felt comfortable at approx. 50 percent for a loud passage before but with the Denon I am using up to 75 percent on the volume and the sound just gets better. I try not to strain the setup because I know my speakers are power hogs.
The picture quality is great as well. I have the super video conected direct to my Sony XBR (no HD yet for me) and have enjoyed the extra video quality over my older Panasonic.
I listen to most music on CD in 2 channel "No Effects" on receiver with the 1920 set to "Pure Direct" mode. The sound quality has me relistening to all my favorites to see what I missed.
Can't wait to spend more money on amps........etc.......
I compared 1920 and the 2910 at Sound Advice and really couldn't notice a sonic difference. I would like to try them side by side with my home setup if they would give me a loaner...lol...But for the price difference I could buy a Outlaw M2200...
