newbie, think i have tweeter prob. in RTA 11T.

hey all, im new. been reading for a bit. inherited carver components system and RTA 11Ts. I believe with sl 2000 tweeter. tweeter makes a buzzing even with volume all the way down. I have carver 600w amp.

thanks for quick reply. im sure its the RTA 11T and not the RTA11TL. It has "monitor series" written on metal tag. Also has particle board support under speaker instead of screw in feet. Silver coil tweeter.

Swap the "bad" tweeter with the known good one. If the problem follows, you need a new tweeter.Political Correctness'.........defined

Whether or not the tweeter is fried you are better off upgrading to the RDO194-1 replacement silk dome tweeters. Ask for Ken at Polk CS and mention that you are a Club Polk member to get a discount and free shipping.
To test the tweeter, take it out and hook it up directly to you speaker wire / cable and play at LOW volume. If you still hear the buzz chuck the tweeter in the garbage or use it for a paper weight.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

yup, it was deffinitely bad by that test. will order silks tomorrow.
