I did a search and found a little input, but really searching for opinions on the Denon DVD-2910 player? Looking to purchase a Denon unit to match my rig, while this unit is a little more than I would like to pay.
My biggest questions for owners is...
Is this a pretty good player?
This unit seems to have some firmware upgrades, is this unit snakebit with little issues?
Any deal stopper issues with this unit?
Thanks up front!!!

If you are looking at just DVD movies and using digital outputs for audio, there are others out there (Oppo, Panasonic, Samsung to name a few in the $200ish range). If you need quality DVD-A and SACD, then the Denon is more what you want.
BTW, I own the Oppo and love it. I compared it to this player and chose the Oppo because I do not listen to DVD-A or SACD. However, I do own one DVD-A. It was more for checking out the new capability since the Oppo supports DVD-A. The Denon has better DAC's than the Oppo by far.
Hope this helped.

I don't recommend the 2910 if you have a DLP TV. I had one and sold it due to macroblocking issues. Otherwise it is a decent player.Sharp Elite 70

I had the Cambridge Audio Azur 540 DVD and the Denon 2910 both running at the same time for comparison. Unless you need the DVD-A/SACD, the Cambridge had a much better picture and HT sound was equal.DKG999

find it really hard to believe that these two new DVD players (Cambridge Audio and Oppo) are prety much showing Dennon up. I mean Dennon seems to be prety strong in some spots but these "cheepe machines" are giving them one hell of a run for the money. I have read that with the Cambridge and the Oppo both are as good if not better than the Dennon 2910 just for playing DVD's. Boy am I glad that I did not waste $400+ on a dennon when I can watch my DVD's for about $200 less or more. Am I getting this right?Harman Kardon AVR635

I love my 2910. I think the picture and sound (both video & cd sound) are great. But I really haven't compared it to much. I got it for both DVD and HiRes audio (it had some real nice reviews and matched my gear).Denon AVR-3803

Get off the fence and just buy it. I just got a Denon DVD-1920 and it works great, it is about half the price of the 2910 and will still match your rig.

I did the same thing (Denon 1920). I regret it now since I could've had the same, if not better, quality picture and sound for $80 less with the Cambrige Audio. Go with the Cambrige. My $.02Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Seriously looking at the 1920, just felt like in my reading the 2910 was a much better unit. Just not sure its THAT much better...lolRockin' In My House
