Ok need help finalizing my decisions.
Here's the start for my 5.1 setup!
I was gonna go with the Polk R30's as fronts for starters but decided against it since the sale price at outpost would still be a bummer for me.. (shipping + taxes) SOoooo
Also, this is just gonna be the start of the setup, Ill be finishing it later when I have the cash.
Bic DV62si pair as fronts, DV62CLR as mid. -first purchase. 226 shipped.
Use old Sharp 2way 4inch woofer/ tweeter for surrounds.
Dayton 12in subwoofer. -second purchase. 150 bucks.
Purchase another pair of DV62si to replace the old surrounds. -third purchase. 110 bucks shipped.
= 486 total.
Second system
Buy some Fluance 5.1 package right away.
Fronts are 3-way floorstanders. Mid is dual 4in midrange with tweeter.
surrounds are 4inch 2-way. -first purchase around 200 bucks shipped.
Dayton 12in. subwoofer -150 bucks
= 350 bucks total.
What do ya think?
AND please, recommend me anything else that is better and onmy FIRST PURCHASE, in the 220 bucks pricerange.

................   . How many times/ways in a one week period are you going to ask the same question? Even at the price you quoted the R30's are so much better than your other 2 choices. My strong suggestion (as it has been all along) is if you can't quite swing the R30's wait and save some more money. I must just be a complete glutton for punishment to even continue to answer your same questions over and over. You aren't on meds for A.D.D. are you? Geesh...............

People already have answered this question in the other threads you started about this same topic........"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. start where you can with your budget. Ive heard BIC, and there listenable. if thats your budget, then your making alot of it. As I;ve allready said, I hear good things about those Dayton entry level subs. tons of performance for little cash.
start there and build up over time. its like a sicknessLiving Room 2 Channel -

I know your agony....but if you can hold out for the R30's I'm sure you won't regret it. Do what ya gotta do man......you'll sleep easier once you make a decision one way or the other.

You dont have to build your entire system right now... I say go with the R30. I've never been a fan of BIC or Fluance.
That said, I know how you feel... how do you think I felt when I had to make a $5K call on which speaker to buy just a few weeks ago? Same feeling you're feeling pal.
BTW, I'm pinipig523 on [H]ardforum. Nice to see you here.
Go with the R30 and call it a day. Start with however many speakers you can afford and work on the remainder another day. No need to rush it.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
i agree with what Joey says... buy the best main front speakers you can afford... those are the most important in any system.. they are what put out the most sound.. whether in home theater or music listening.
then as cash comes in add the center, subwoofer and surround.. trying to buy all of those speakers at once isn't going to give you the satisfaction you're looking for. In the long run, would end up costing you more.. having to buy these speakers and say 6 months or a year down the road.. having to replace them with the ones you really want.
It took me nearly two years to get all my speakers bought to where they were all Polk Audio.. it takes time my friend..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Fine, I'll wait I guess.... my logitech's (Shrugs) should hold me over... or I can toss on my sennheiser's hehe.. BUT
Ill wait for outpost to make the R30's on sale...so here's my new plan..
R30's 40 bucks a piece... X2 = 80.
R15's 40 bucks a pair....X1=40
shipping is 55 bucks for the speakers...and umm 20 more bucks for tax? Does anyone know how much outpost charges for tax in California?
so should be under 200 bucks for a pair of surrounds and fronts R30's -
Regarding the BICs, did you consider the cost of
1) Stands, since they are bookshelf speakers. Maybe you don't need stands, but if you did, that could easily take the total cost over the R30s, even at $60 each plus shipping/tax.
2) Crossover mod - I'm sure you've read about the Ed Frias crossover mod that many folks have done to supposedly improve the sound (I think it's around $30/pr).
I helped set-up a BIC system for a friend, using the same speakers you're considering. Not bad for the money, even without the crossover mod. However, I personally find the Polk R series to be superior and an even better value, especially when the sales pop up. Sounds like you're leaning in that direction now.5.1 and 2.0 ch Basement Media Room: Outlaw 975/Emotiva DC-1/Rotel RB-1582 MKII/Rotel RB-1552/Audiosource Amp 3/Polk LS90, CS400i, FX500i/Outlaw X-12, LFM-1/JVD DLA-HD250/Da-Lite 100" HCCV/Sony ES BDP/Sonos Connect. The BICs are awesome for the price. The $99 center channel is very highly regarded. I used to own an unmodded one and compared to the Csi40 that replaced it, the 40 was only slightly more detailed. So I'd choose BIC over R30.
Forget about the super cheap second system setup. Do one at a time. Put that money towards the first system.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Psshh.... I do have a part time job at albertson's...and remember I am only a high schooler... and I just started the Job, and I would feel uneasy spending so much more than what I intended anyways.... 500 bucks for a whole system not including receiver... but it looks like the polks would be my choice now... seems really good.. -
Then definately save up and go for the Polks. That's a no brainer. Good luck.

Just got back from circuitcity.... and auditioned the M20's.. which are remodeled R30's..... I turned all the subs and other speakers off and used them in stereo mode... and WOW!! I was blowned away!!! They sounded WAY WAY fuller sound than I thought! Definitely getting a pair of R30's... and Also, I auditioned the M10's ( R15's remodeled I am guessing? ) and some Monitor 30's... grr those Monitors 30's blew them away... they had a pair of open boxed of monitor 30's for 50 bucks a pice.. is that a good price?

yup and yup...
as cc generallly sells them at $100 apiece newI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

If you got the cash..run back there and get those. You got to audition them, no shipping and nothing wrong with open box. $50 a piece, they are probably gone already. Skip class and get over there and get them
