A rig for a truck...

I might be getting a Chevy Silverado 1984 - brand new 350 in it, new paint job -

Anyways....

Im looking to make an enclosure --- that goes in the center part of the truck and extends up onto the seat - may also make it double as a storage compartment...

Maybe this for the sub -
http://ascendantaudio.com/assassin8specs.html

I may get some Polk DBs for the car... I guess... ;)

I dunno, but Im looking to spend no more than 500 bucks on a HU, Sub, Amp, speakers (speakers will be ran off HU) - it wont be played that loud and Im not looking to knock the socks of things... I just want to get solid bass...

May add an amp for the speakers later on though...

Thats going to be tough to hit for under $500 bro. A decent head unit alone will run at least $200 with another $200 for the speakers.

Profile amps are the best budget amps out there. Nothing fancy about them but they will cleanly make their rated power and are built well and have great prices.

You could get a DB104 for $70, the Profile AP400 for the sub(200 watts) for $80 or the Profile AP600 (300 watts) for $110.

Ugh. Cant help ya there bro. I avoid the used market like the plague.

Id still say try to get Polk gear but shoot for some higher quality amps like MTX, Rockford or Kicker. All those are pretty popular so should be in abundance and theyre all high quality gear.

Im not much up on install prices since Ive dont my own work for 15 years but I think its gonna be upwards of $300.

You should really consider doing it yourself. With your experience in tinkering with HA and building skills I dont think youll have any problems doing it.

Me, Vinny and especially Cody can certainly help you out with any questions.

    labor:
    100 for the radio
    45 per pair of speakers
    65 for the amp

you can most certainly do it yourself...

1984 silverado? I beleive that involves some cutting for the radio to fit. You might want to have a shop do that, but its going to cost you.

I'm not sure about the speakers though. You might just get a 4channel amp and put 4 6x9s behind the seat and call it a day. If its the truck im thinking about, unless you want to start cutting metal, you dont have much of a choice

    Yes its a bad idea.

    1- it doesnt support Polk
    2- its unauthorized
3- you dont get a warranty
4- you have no idea what condition the stuff is in

Be a man! Buy new and authorized!! :D

Id get them from a guy living in Alaska, I dont care as long as its cheaper than anyone else...lol

Im almost deciding to not do any car audio, not sure...

The first thing I plan to get done to it is replace the door pens (needs that bad), new tires.... (this will most likely be my Mom paying) and I plan to to paint me a truck bed liner on there.... oh yes... From there... we'll worry about something else! :)

Pep Boys Futura GLS Super Sport tires are like the poor man's Firehawks - nice white letters, great tires for daily driving and cruising - a road and track type aggressive tread (not some muddy agressive tread, but a good "handles in corners" type tread for muscle cars and trucks).

    50 bucks ea.

Is 50 bucks each expensive for tires or...?

How much would it cost to get a new ceiling installed in a truck (reg cab)

that's dirt cheap for P265 70 R 15 truck tires... its the regular cost for the Futura's - but compared to a Firehawk at 80 or a Goodyear Wrangler at 100... its cheap. and its a good tire.

a new ceiling? as in the sheetmetal itself? to cut all that out and put a new roof on... hell you're looking at probably a grand to 1500 by the time you pay for the new roof, the labor and welding and the paint.

if you just mean the cloth **** that's up there... they sell kits for your truck at www.JCWhitney.com for like 50 bucks i think. its a do it yourself thing but it works.

That looks like a christmas/birthday time buy for me...hehe

A list of things I need for the interrior are...

    1) Seat Covers - there is seat covers in there now, but they are made for the model with a head rest, which this does not have. Probally will get a cloth seat cover.

    2) Headliner

    3) A piece on the doors... its like right below where your arm would rest (right where the window starts) its a horizontal piece, looks like itd be about 3-4" wide and would stretch the width of the door

Those are the only things in the interrior...

    On the exterrior...

    1) new Silverado emblem for the passenger side, its missing

    2) Edging for the truck bed and paint the truck bed with a liner...

    3) Maybe* get another "vanity wheel cover" I only need one...

And of course, the door pens and the white lettered tires.

Thats really all thats wrong with it as far as cosmetics go and mechanically, there isnt any real problems. I really hope to get it.

Haha... I like the, "is $50 expensive for tires"

I put tires on my Ranger (1/2 ton, light truck, 235/75r15), $110 a piece. That hurt...
    Ludicrous gibs!
