Received McAlister amp!

OK, Just opened up the McAlister 150W amplifier. Amp only, I have not received the power supply yet.
I just don't know what to say. The thing is a beast and takes the real estate of two Jolida amps, three or four of the Manleys, and that doesn't even include the larger power supply!
Seriously, I never even suspected the sheer girth of this thing! Let me put it this way, my audio racks are completely worthless with this two foot wide, ten inch tall, one foot deep monster that I am having trouble lifting! I had a lot of trouble just getting it out of the box. Just to give you an idea, it has two little caps sticking up on the top. Each one is like 3" X 6" tall.
I am just awe struck with the physical layout of this thing. It almost scares me when I think of what it will be able to output! Certainly I am going to be afraid to plug it in!
Holy freakin .... #$^%!****#R%$#@W&^$#&* More later once I give it a try.

It is always available in either of their homes for review with no question. SI? Sonic impact I'm guessing? Very strange reply?

You've officially moved out of the rack, and on to dedicated amp stands.

It was very hard to carry up to the house. To get out of the box was a real hassle. I believe the power supplies are much heavier from what I gather. Comparing to my super big and heavy Jolida's, this thing makes them look like little toys. Sound is everything though, lets just see how they sound. Hopefully I'll get the supply next week.

I think you're giddy from the new arrival, or he's giving a hell of a break on shipping. From the McAlister web site:
Pricing: PP150S $****.xx
All prices are in USD and do not include shipping or customs duty and brokerage fees if applicable.
Shipping weight: a) amplifier 26lbs b) power supply 25lbs
-
The shipping was reasonable, let me tell ya. It was like $80 shipping for both units. That is freakin cheap considering the size and weight. Plus, it was expidiant shipping to the US. I guaranty he is loosing money on shipping cost.

OK, bathroom scales says 55 lbs. That is amplifier only, no power supply.

right on, max! congrats!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I will do a full review once I get it all going. Big is good, but I think you guys know I'll be fully truthfull when it comes to sound. I find it hard to belive I will favor it over the Jolida with the Tung Sol's installed. I am fully into that system as we speak. We'll see...

Max --
Congrats on the new purchase. Can't wait to read your review. I am VERY intrigued by this amp and how it will sound vs. the Jolida. I really like the separate power supply. Got a few questions though --
How did you come across this amp?
What preamp will you be using?
What went into your decision to buy a new amp?
Why wasn't the power supply shipped along with the amp?

 55 pounds?
Damn.. My amp section is only 26 pounds with tubes! Maybe he used armor plate for the chassis to prevent shipping damage.
I'm still amazed by mine. Just upgraded the woofers in my ALIII's to Infinity Perfect 10.1's and listening this evening to an old group called Yello.
Unbelieveable how detailed, deep and fast that amp is on the bass. -
I keep hearing about McAlister amps lately...
Or reading I should say...
Congrats on the new toy..!

Jesse and I better come over for back-up in case the boys get ugly.

Finally got it, eh? At least half of it. Bummer about the PS not there at the same time. I anxiously await your review. I am very happy with mine.
My PP150 amp weighs like 28 pounds and the power supply 25 pounds. I had suggested he use a beefier chassis for the PS due to the common problem of the chassis floor bending with rough handling.
I had to remove the lower panel on mine and Norms PS to flatten it out. I also mounted the transformer with neoprene isolation mounts to reduce the transmission of inductance hum into the chassis. The mounts really quiet the PS up. They have an adequate shear rating to survive shipping should he decide to implement that fix.

LOL *click* Turns attention back on....
It seems his builds vary some. For instance, Norm and I have one large cap on our PP150S while the pic of the 150 on his web site shows two. Sounds like Chuck has two. The output trannies should have the same windings and interleaves, so where is the added weight? Maybe Chucks scale is off, and he don't need to watch his weight after all.
Peter does some nice custom work too. I didn't have enough faith in the product when I put my money down the first time and wanted to stay at minimum cost. I regret that now.
