The arrangement in my prior house had one of the speakers near the entry way. Visiting women love to place their purse, keys, etc on the speaker...well, after showing my **** a few times, my wife made sure she nipped it before it could happen.

One time an interior designer came over (for the new people buying our house) to take some measurements, as her clipboard was about 6 inches from the top of my speaker, my wife practically dove across the room to grab it---it was funny seeing her "defend" my speakers.

I'd recommend if you have a speaker that's in a location that makes it a handy "end table" get glass tops cut for them. Cost about $7 a piece at a local glass shop---well worth the investment.

Well said. I was about to mention the custom tops. Still, no liquid, including hot wax should ever be allowed near the gear. It's so funny, speaker set up guides tell us that coffee tables are the bane of our clear sounding HT living room, yet without it, zipperheads would use the cabs for drink stands. Guess you have to make some sacrifices for good sound.

    So much for drinking anything....

    Oh.
