Ebay feedback...I'm starting a new trend

I've had it with sellers that hold my feedback "ransom" when I pay for an item immediately. From now on they will get neutral feedback (provided everything else is ok) with my comments about their practices. Instant buyers should know when their feedback is being held up wrongfully. It's BS in my book.

Doesn't that piss you off?

I get REALLY pissed when they leave NO feedback... I dont care if it takes them a few days, even a week after I pay...

But NO feedback? Thats pure BS...

    YES IT DOES.
I get so mad when they wait for your feedback before they post.
If I paid you I did what I was supposed to do. I did good I deserve my feedback.
If the item arrives and is as described then you get your feedback.
Rarely does someone post feedback for me till I post for them.

I just bought an SPL meter and the guy posted my feedback right away so when I posted his I put that in there for the next guy to see.

yeah, it shows how insecure they are with their own practices. if someone paid immediately, they have fulfilled their obligation. now the seller should do his/her part. in all fairness, some buyers are picky **** (such as myself) and they may turn crybaby and leave negative feedback, though the seller may not have deserved it. i've come to live with sellers who leave feedback after i do. i get mad at the ones i have to constantly remind to leave me feedback. ticks me off!

The last guy I bought from gave me immediate feedback on a BIN. I mentioned in my positive feedback to him that he did that, letting other buyers no he won't hold you ransom. But that is the only time that has happened.

Boy this really fries me..about three weeks ago I won a CD on eBay and within minutes of the auction ending I sent payment to the seller via PayPal. Along with the payment I sent a note asking if he would confirm payment and let me know when the item would ship. I never heard from the guy but about a week later I received the CD. I did leave positve feedback for him but he never left any for me!! Some of these guys are just jerks!

I NEVER leave feedback for a buyer, until they have. I won't discuss it either.

In my book, the transaction is complete, when they've received the item, and posted feedback. I will then reciprocate.

I always leave feedback as a buyer, and if they don't reciprocate big F'n deal.

Another note, I 'do' my feedback about once a month, I don't have the time to do it instantly, for every transaction - so I have had buyers ask me when I planned to leave feedback, and the answer is when I get to it.

You want feedback, email the seller and ask for it, but don't whine about it. It's not mandatory.

It may not be mandatory but it should be a common courtesy! When I purchased the CD that I mentioned in my above post, the seller had a total of 350 transactions and only ONE auction going at that time. [the one I won] I'm sure that he could have taken time out of his busy schedule to leave me feedback! But he didn't and to me that makes him an inconsiderate **** and I won't buy anything from him again!!!

Just because a buyer pays immediately doesn't mean they're not going to pull **** later on. I never leave feedback for my buyers until the transaction is 100% complete and all party's are satisfied.

I've had it all ways as a buyer. Instant feedback on payment, feedback after I left feedback, no feedback... no biggie to me.

What little selling I have done to date, was small ticket stuff. So once the payment cleared I posted "+" feedback for the buyer and all but one reciprocated.

However, I would never do that on a big, or even a midling, ticket item, unless I knew the buyer. There are buyers out there that will hold feedback as hostage unless you "rebate" them some $$$. Just read the ebay forums... they are full of stories like that.

It's the principle of the thing. Feedback is 2-way; if you pay immediately, and your money is good, the buyer has lived up fully and promptly to their end of the bargain. I'm not talking about sellers who take awhile to post feedback, I'm talking about sellers that "hold" feedback until you respond. To say that's "whinning" is ****. It's called integrity.

To those of you with hundreds (or maybe thousands) of feedback, no big deal---I understand that, I'll just make sure the next buyer knows what they can expect. It's called fair play.

On another note, what is it with this place lately that if it doesn't come from Russman or Dorokusai it's a waste of time? I think that's **** as well. Get off your high-horse, and bring your nose back parallel to the ground. Some of us were doing this audio thing when you were making turkey's with your hand print.

FWIW I don't think the buyer has fully lived up to their end of the bargain until he's posted feedback and proves he's not going to pull something underhanded like trying to scam or something. There are plenty of buyers that might get buyers remorse and try and back out somehow.
I also think this is a valid subject for discussion. Screw these other people.

Well, when I do the Ebay thing, I always give the seller positive feedback when I have received the item from the seller and everything is as stated. I also send them an email letting them know I did so and ask for the same in the end. Having also been on the selling side of the equation I understand the line of thinking of holding back until the buyer posts feeback. Why? Well, if you give them positive feeback just because they paid you that's not the end of it. You don't know if the person you're dealing with is reasonable. I have had ONE negative on my EBay and it was from a very unreasonable buyer, never have ever had an issue before or after that and it was many years ago. Since that happened I hold feeback hostage until they are satisfied with what I shipped them, it's a way of keeping them honest. It's not Club Polk where you're almost 99.9% sure it will be an amicable sale.

I think that's fair to do it that way, but if you give them positive feedback and they don't reciprocate, that's bad on them. Send them an email, but it isn't the end of the world after that. I definitely see the principle of it all, but it's no use trying to twist their arms.

So I wasn't taking anyones side, I just agreed with what Russ was saying. He may not agree with my assessment, but this place isn't a frickin' popularity contest.

It's not about that. That was a personal issue I should have taken off-line. I respect Russman's experience because of the vast equipment he has exposure to, I don't respect the way he chooses to come off at times. It's easy to be cantankerous, no challenge what so ever.

    - The buyers responsibility is to pay on-time
    - The sellers responsibility is to represent the item fairly and ship when stated

Feedback is left to rate each persons performance in their responsibilities. In my book, any seller who holds back feedback on a good, instant buy is one of 2 things: 1. Lazy; 2. Hiding something. How can there be any confusion on that?

That's my take, like it or not. Ain't America beautiful?

I agree with you about the responsibilities of both parties, but it's akin to things looking good on paper and forgeting about the variables. While you're an upstanding guy, your buyer may not be. If they knock your rating down on Ebay it does have a negative effect on all future auctions. Once or twice might not matter, but that depends on how much you use EBay. I guess you have more faith in humanity than I do, but this is faceless commerce, big difference.

You can dispute them, but it's really hard to get it taken off. I only know this because I tried doing it with the guy I had a problem with. Usually they'll only remove negative feeback if a slanderous comment was made.

It's B.S. that it happens, but it's an unfortunate truth about EBay.

Feedback can be withdrawn if the person posts a slanderous comment. I stand by that. I went through the process, otherwise you're right about mutually withdrawing it. It's possible the rules changed in the 4 years it's been.

No, I think you are still correct.

If Buyer says you are an incompetent ****-monkey crook, who can't even draw a hand-turkey, let alone pack an item properly... I think that can be appealed.

But if a buyer says the item was poorly packed or not sent, that's not slanderous. It might be a lie, but not a slanderous one.

As a seller, I almost always leave buyer feedback within a few days of them paying. If I suspect they will be the non-feedback type, I will wait a little longer, but I don't play feedback ransom or retalitory feedback games.
I don't have any worries about an unhappy buyer because I wouldn't sell anything to anybody without proper disclosure, just as I would expect from others.

    (WARNING, LONG STORY-I've been Drinking)

    I currently have this problem.
I bought a tuner of Ebay that was pretty much mis-represented. The auction said Pioneer Elite, etc, "appears to be in excellent condition". I bid and won for a pretty low price actually. I got it an found it was missing the damn feet and it had a couple small dents, nothing major and it worked perfect. I checked on the price of new feet and they were like $12 each+shipping.
I contacted the seller and I said that the conditon was not as expected and I wanted a partial refund to at least pay for half the price of new feet.
He gave me this "I should have known you were going to be trouble" attitude because I asked him a few questions during the auction about shipping and the condition of the tuner.
I replied back and told him that if he didn't want to give me a partial refund for the cost of feet, he could have the whole thing back and give me a full refund.
He finally replied and said "tough luck, I don't have time for you because I'm a lawyer who bills by the hour...blah, blah, blah...I'm not giving you any money back and you are a loser for asking."
He also said that if I left bad feedback, he would do the same.

So,... I've decided...I'm not going to leave him any feed back and I guess he won't either. But I did put it on my Outlook Calender, 89 days from the auction date to go and leave feedback. At that time, at my disgression, I might go in and leave him honest but negative feedback at the last minute (the cutoff is 90 days).
What will dictate my leaving feedback is his current activity on Ebay.
In one of his messages, he told me that since selling was such a nightmare (he had two - feedbacks already this month) he wasn't going to sell on Ebay anymore. If I find he is still selling, I will leave the feedback. Hopefully he sticks with his word and stays away from selling on ebay. We don't need that type of seller.

Anyway, this is my second time with a bad seller. You might remember my rant last spring about the RT800i seller and the damage from shipping. I'm long over that. The speakers sound great and in my setup, the damage is not visible.
For the most part, I've had great experience with Ebay and got some great deals and sold a bunch of stuff for good money.
I think its worth the risk and I will not hesitate to bid and sell again.
Heck, I just sold a tuner tonight for 4 times as much as I paid for it! Just needed a little cleaning.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
