I'll post pics later on.

While my wife went shopping for some last min items for our vacation, I told her I'd venture off into our local Future Shop. I wnt in with the intention of look at audio gear only but to buy a bigger card for our dig cam. I was on my way out when I spotted a HK335 on sale for 699$ (reg price is 1100$ cad).
I asked a sales rep if this price was true. He looked at the price and was shocked himself. I told him I'd take it. He came back with the bag which had the manual and set up mic. NO remotes. I asked him what he could do. So he gave me a 3yr waranty and a set of Monster3m component video cables. Not bad for no remotes.
I think I scored !! :D
He informed me it was below cost.
Set up my harmony remote ( I don't need the zone2 remote as I will not use it) calibrated the system. and I might say I thought my rxv 540 was decent, but this kicks it's butt. I am finding the mids to be much more clear, the overall sound is full and dare I say "warmer" I nerver understood untill yesterday what that meant. I am having one issue with the bassmgnt, the bass is set to -10 on my receiver but it's still to loud. I may have to use the filtered input on my sub and turn up the xover, I think this will allow me to lower the volume.
Having a lower xover setting really helped as the yammy had a fixed 90 xover.
I am floored by the difference in quality in sound between the two.
The HK makes my rti8's sounds Like I have dreamed for them to sounds.(I could only imagine what amps hooked up to them would do)
I will experiement some more over the next couple days and report my findings.

If any one has tips or advice or thoughts on their 335 or other HK models please post them, I'd like to hear what others issues or findings have been

Thanks Cfrizz. I'll wait a tad, but now I have the option of external amplification, which by everyone here makes a universe of difference.

With the Ezeset, does this need to be done for every sources? or doing it once sets it for all sources?

Great snag, willow. I went from a Yamaha RX-V1300 to an HK 330 and was shocked at the difference. The HK could could play just as loud as the Yammie but it was lot clearer and cleaner. Harman really does make some nice receivers, even down to their bottom of the range units.

Nice snag Willow. Beg, borrow or steal an amp. You need to hear that.

I was tempted to go for the rxv1500, but this seemed as better deal for the price and I am enjoying what I am hearing in terms of the quality of sound. The only thing I wish it had is upconversion so I could use only one set of component cables to my tv, not a composite for VCR, svid for xbox.

Congrats on your H/K purchase! I've been a big fan of H/K for a long time! Be sure to play with Logic 7 and Dolby PLII modes and hear the how the Lexicon processors dazzle you.

Once you set EZset, you are ready to go. You only have to do it one time!

Enjoy and may the groove be with you!

    Some findings from last night.

I noticed the mids are more alive, the highs a bit more tame. There also seems to be what I can only describe by saying more "punch".
The clarity is night and day. like swamp and brita......every single note reproduced is clear and much more accurate and detailed. The rxv540 has been retired to the bedroom to run a pair of r10s.
I also noticed when watching a movie that it seems to be more balanced, by that I mean it all seems to be in the right place at the right time and the sound doesn't seem to struggle it just flows like Niagara Falls.

Yeh.............Willow, what are your plans for separates? I would like to get 3 M2200 Outlaws (L/C/R), but am also looking at Anthem MCA30. Anthem is made right here in Mississauga Canada. Very nice amps.

    See Anthem here http://www.anthemav.com

Not sure how I'll get them in...the only way is if I ask for a collective Bday gift from everyone in the family cause I wouldn't have to pay for it. :D
I too was looking at the Outlaws. There is also many 3 ch amps that pop up in the FM. I really am interested in a 3 ch amp only.
My bday is commin' up in April....we'll see ;)

Well an update. I went shopping with my wife this weekend. She decided to go look for throw pillows(boring). I walked over to the FS. there was the HK335 on sale even cheaper than I bought it. It was on sale for 549 CAD. The next day I brought my receipt in and received some how a refund of 92$....SWEET :D  :D it retailed new for 1299$cad (I saved 750$)

Now if that's not a score...I don't know what is.
