The annual CES shows in Las Vegas start later today (Thursday) and our own Mark & Russ are in attendance. Hopefully they will take a lot of notes and pics to share with us.

CES link: http://www.cesweb.org/default.asp

Of interest to me.......

"The good news from Las Vegas is that several companies are planning interesting announcements of Super Audio CD and DVD-A players and discs later this week at the show. I'll have more on that in the days ahead."

I hope it's good news.

I certainly hope this is true & that the disks are more mainstream Rock & Roll & not just more classical stuff.

If all the major bands from the 70-80's would redo thier catalogs in SACD/DVD-A these 2 formats would have taken off like a rocket once universal players came on the market.

But starting out with 2 different formats & poor music selection is what hurt these formats. It will be the same with Blu Ray & the other one.

    Greedy morons!

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Cost of a Signal Cable Magic Power cable, for the Cable Swap which was later stolen by Brent McCall - $65

Cost of plane ticket to Vegas - $325

Cost of the look on Brent McCall's face when I saw him at the Ethereal Cable booth at CES? - PRICELESS

    Karma baby, she's a real ****.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Here's a couple teasers...it's too slow to upload everything from today.

The Krell EVO 900 Monoblock....1800 watts into 4ohms....hardcore. I forget what model Dynaudio it is but it's not a bookshelf.

Wait till you see the new Jamo TOTL....wow.

Russ looks like he's trying to "shoplift" something in that Dane picture. (I believe that is the Evidence Master or Temptation)

Talk about information overload, I've never seen so many flat panel tv's in my life. LG had a new 102" (not a misprint) Plasma - unreal. Lots of 'hots', especially in the car audio hall - I'll have to have a swim through again before it's over.

Time for a tug of Beam I guess. I'm not looking forward to it, but it's GOING to happen. At least it will take my mind of my barking dogs and monkey butt.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Just finished up Alexis Park, which is the second level of hardcore at CES....unreal.

My only advice to you folks is, save up your money, because high-end exists for a reason....we both have fire sales coming up, it's time to go to the next level.

Here's one pic for you....Mr. Gates with Mr. Thiel....w/ the brand new CS3.7 Coherent Source loudspeaker.
