buzzing in rt7s

let me start by saying i'm a complete newbie and know very little about speakers, so if i sound clueless, it's because i am.
i recently bought a pair of rt7s from a fellow student who was moving cross country was heartbroken bc he couldn't bring them with him. an audiophile, he seemed to know what he was talking about and i trusted his info on the speakers. he said that from time to time, he'd heard a buzzing sound in a certain frequency in one, but not everyone could notice it. at the time, i thought i could hear it, but again, it wasn't all the time.
anyway, it seems like the problem has gotten worse. it's in a mid-low range frequency, and it could be the case that i am hearing it more bc of the dominant sounds in the tv shows i watch (although i'm hearing it more in music, too). however, i have noticed that if i touch the woofer on the speaker, the buzzing stops for a minute or two.
is this something fixable? a part that needs to be replaced? if the part (and the cost of fixing it) is expensive, is there a d.i.y. makeshift repair that i personally make for the time being (until i graduate and start bringing in income)?
thanks for your help!

If the buzzing occurs at specific frequencies and does not happen all the time, I would inspect the foam or rubber around the drivers (speakers in your speaker). Chances are they may be damaged, causing the buzz. If all looks good it may be something internal to the speaker itself. Make sure there is no loose hardware in or on the speaker. Also you could substitute some other speakers in and out to isolate the problem. If it is the speakers they can be repaired on your budget.

check the baffle and the 2 wires that goes from the spider to the cone.or you can push the cone in and out and check if the actual coil is rubbing the magnet inside
