Best bang for buck?

Been running a Sony NS755V for DVD and music duties but have had an itch to try a dedicated CDP. Any suggestions on some good players that will make a difference but not break my speaker budget later in the new year?

    That nysound link is for the imported 220-240V version. Not much use to most of us here in the states. The converted model sells for over twice that new. What is wrong with rebranding? It's the American way today.

    Ya well I've seen the MH & I didn't care for it. The Onix is worth the price for the asthetics alone not to mention the 3 year warranty + the fact that you get package deal pricing on anything else you buy from av123.com.

    A converter will detract from the quality / performance of the unit.

    Looking for a good CDP that won't break the bank. Under 500 would be great but will take suggestions on anything.

    might want to check if the Cambridge Audio Azur 640 is still on sale, there was a thread in the flea market about it a short time ago.

    I gave my suggestion in post #3 :) I didn't mean to hijack your thread :o I have the Onix and I like it very much. My $.02 on the subject ;)

    I'd like to add that I saw and heard both the Cambridge Audio Azur 640C and the Music Hall 25.2 at a local hi-fi shop (thanks Jesse) and after I got the Onix I'd take it over the other two any day of the week. I had a Rotel RCD-1070 and that was a very nice unit IMO but I still prefer what I have now. Good luck with your search.

    My suggestions would be the Onix XCD88 $299 or XCD99 for $399 or CD2 for $499 or this cool Marantz that SteveinAZ posted about a couple of days ago.

    For that kinda coin I'd go for the Ah! Njoe Tjoeb $749 + the upsampler $349 @ upscaleaudio.com. SCompRacer has this and IMO it is amazing. I'd love to have it but I don't have the $$$ :(

    The Azur 540C is on sale for $275 at audioadvisor.com. They also have the 640C for $399.

    110v-220v transformers are less than $50 almost anywhere.
