Surrounds or sub first?

MY signature says I have the FXi3 surrounds but that is mainly anticipatory, if that is even a word... I am going to order them or the FXi5's in a week or so. However I am aware that I really need subwoofer upgrade as well from my old Cerwin Vega 10". I am most likely heading towards a SVS 12" of some sort.

I am just curious, do you think I would be more beneficial to upgrade the sub first and keep with my R15 as surrounds for a few months till I can scrape up the dough for the FXi's? Or is it better to get the FXi's to match my whole speaker setup and wait on the sub?

Call SVS... they'll honestly help you determine what you need for your listening style and room size.

Although you would get the best bang for your buck getting a sub espically an svs i would suggest you get the fxi5s before they become hard to find. The svs subs are easy to come by timber matching is a little more difacult.

my opinion was solely based on the ENHANCEMENT/REFINEMENT aspect of either of the two given choices. i think the sub will make the most DIFFERENCE and be more noticeable. eventually you will have both.

    Sub.

Do you have any other bookshelf speakers kicking around? Set them up while you save for new surrounds. If you do it in this order, you'll notice how much of a difference a new sub has, and you'll be able to compare the FX's to your bookshelf speakers and hopefully appreciate them more. :)

    Pioneer VSX-D912K
    Polk CSi30 Center
    RM6005 Satellites (Fronts/Surrounds/Rear Center)
