Who would really need a sub that would put out 120db at 20Hz??
If you are listening to stuff that loud, you won't be listening to anything shortly.
I'm all for good bass and all but I believe that some of this is overkill.....

Orangetoupe have you ever heard a svs sub? There are subs out there that would probably be better but none that are in the price range of the svs with the exception of the HSU. I hear it is a great sub too! Check out this review:

Also if you want to hear some SVS subs or other types of speakers try this:
Audio Envy
It is site where people sign up to let you know you can come by and listen to their equipment. -
Ever thought about building your own? You can achieve the same results as an SVS for half the cost. It is very easy is you have some basic wood-working skills.

I really did think about it. I think you could build one that would surpass the SVS and the HSU. It would have to be larger though. Most people use the sonotubes. They are the cardboard molds for concrete columns.

Yep, that's what I used.

I don't think he's in the market for a $1500 sub. If he was, I'd suggest a EdgarHorn sub seismic. You can get a no finish sub at this price that'll kill. Hits deep, fast and very musical. People will wonder what it is as they feel their chest concave.
I'm with Ron on this one!Make it Funky! -
Well I guess it depends on whether or not he want to build one or not. SVS has a new model that is supposed to be good. Although I have not heard one. It is $549. It comes with an amp built in. Here is the link:
