Teams can do great in the draft. Often it's what you see in someone that nobody else does. We had the master at draft manipulation for years and did quite well. I'm just pointing out that the history for the #1 #1s not being so hot...
Agree 100%... plus add the injury factor, e.g., my poor Brownies' Edwards and Winslow.

Were I the GM with the #1 pick, I'd probably have to trade it... especially if I could find someone willing to do what New Orleans did to get the Ricky Williams pick. Let's face it, the team with the poorest record needs more than one player, even if that one player is the 2nd coming of Gayle Sayers.

lol, man, we're surrounded. Viqueens, and Lions & Bears, oh my! I've been to some of the Packer **** whoopin' handouts at the old Soldier Field, friendly is not the word I would use. :p

I would say that the rivalry between the Vikings and Packers has been bigger just because we would have a rougher time in the dome. Now we can't win at all. Ah well, such is the nature of the league. I honestly haven't watched more than 1 Packer game all year. I'm not a fairweather fan, it's just healthier for me to not watch. ;) I still follow on all the news surrounding them and the stats, but no way will I watch that. Despite their record they've been playing quite well.

I feel ya man, been along time since 85, although we made the playoffs a few times since then. I was just a teenager when Butkus and Ditka were the men with Nitchke and Starr. Oh, well memory lane.

I agree one player in the draft doesn't turn around a team, but what is the difference between 2 wins and 4 wins?

The Bears do have a good defense, but come on? Suber Bowl? Didn't anyone see what Pittsburgh did to them? How about the lowely Packers. I think playing in Chicago in January is more important than the defense. Colts would score 30+ on them in a dome, but only 14 or so in Chicago.

Did you read the book on the Browns? False Start! Being an outsider I didn't know about half the stuff. If you haven't read it, you should, any NFL fan should read it!

Yea, that Bear defense its nothing special, just some fairly good ole boys led by a no name former college safety from N.M. A bunch of cubbies dressed up in helmets. Must be the weather. Yea thats it.
