Lesbians!?! In a police department?!! Say it isn't so !? (she said with tongue firmly planted in ..er..cheek.) Man! You have to go to the PBA or whatever or whomever you pay your dues to. That is bogus!

I know that there is always more going on sometimes and usually it boils down to one incident but that is LAME-O-RAMA. Fight that one. On my Dep't I have Sgts. who have been fired for domestic violence. They were even arrested and got their jobs back with back pay!

Mr nightly Hi listening to a one sided story in my opinion an arbitrator should reverse that fireing on the grounds that there was banter back and forth and that there wasnt any illegal activity or injuries that took place as a result. if you have a good union or good representation and you emphasize on the fact that that kind of bantor happens on a regular basis and you can get witnesses to testify you should be reinstated with any loss. the problem is arbitrations usually take months to get scheduled. make sure that in your union contracts that there isnt any thing about lying that can come back to haunt you. Good luck and best wishes to you and your family.make sure that you document any kind of bantor or any thing you hear between now and then to use in your case should the worst case senario happen.

You should definitely take legal action. Im usually the one yelling loudest agaisnt all these stupid, baseless lawsuits but this "good old boy" crap that goes on in police departments is getting stupid.

This "good old boy" system makes it virtually impossible to get hired by a police department these days if youre "out of the loop". I tried for several years, actually 10, and went nowhere, meanwhile cousin Cletus and cousin Billy Bob were getting hired left and right. And the result? Chattanooga police has 2 x-officers in court right now for rape, a bunch have been fired for picking up whores, taking bribes and all kinds of crap.

So I say go for it. Rip these guys a new one.

Dude, I think you could fight that. Are you a member of the PBA, or have some sort of union representation? I find it hard to believe they can dismiss you for that trivial of a reason. It's not as though you lied to falsify evidence or worse. That is pure bullsh!t. A reprimand, maybe, but not a dismissal. Talk to your steward or rep.

If it is grounds for dismissal, your better off resigning and moving on. There are alot of other places to go to with your qualifications.

hey mr. nightly,maybe this will ease your pain just a little, or at least for a few minutes. i am, for the very first time, GUILTY of rear-ending someone. she had an xterra and had minor damage to her bumper. my camaro was designed to dissintegrate upon impact. my front fender was annihilated. everyone was okay. guess my past transgressions are finally catching up to me. i already have traffic school slated for tomorrow for a previous ticket. yummie.

Dude that sucks, BIG TIME! Sorry to hear about that.

At least nobody was hurt right? Of course right.

Well, if anyone cares, I was terminated on 12/20/05 for, "Perponderance of the evidence" where it was 51% to 49% that I had, "Lied." I was told by the Chief that i would never work again for my city. I told her point blank, "Give me a resignation, or i'll sue you're A@@'s off." (Well, you get the idea) The Chief said they would like to, "Keep it Clean." To which i relplied, I would never work for this city again, but I want to keep it clean as well, and get a resignation.

I have a meeting on 12/27/05 with her to get the resignation. I hope. I did learn a few more things tho... regarding the termination. I had 3 dispatchers who wrote statements against me, and two of their statements, yes 2... where dictacted by the LT. He, and i quote one of them, "Stood over my shoulder and told me what to write against you." Fearing for their jobs, they complied. I just find that unbelievable. And he is accusing me of dishonesty!?!

Regardless, I plan to take my resignation and move on. I'm not sure if I will stay in LE, simply due to the events, and I don't want to sue and be tied up in court for months. My wife is behind the resignation move, and my name will be clean. I just had no idea how crooked Law Enforcement could be... simply because they didn't like someone.

Anyways, here i sit, unemployeed for the Holidays. This is a first.

Hope everyone is having a merry Xmas Eve. Hey, The Chiefs won, what more could i ask for???

Ok, i'll devulge the "Something else going on." Back in August, all the midnight officers took our favorite three dispatchers out to breakfeast afer our shift was over. The forth dispatcher, who wasn't friendly and didn't like us, was left out. We didn't like her either. But i digress...

So after the forth dispatcher (Big A) found out that she wasn't invited, she vowed to one of the dispathchers we had taken out, that she would find out who didn't like her and if she was ever promoted, would get revenge. (Can i hear... high school drama??) Well, within the month, Big A was promoted. She made a list, and my name was #1 on the top of it. Since then she had been looking as to how to jamb me up. She is the one who turned in this entire nonsense in the first place and is quoted as saying, "It's gotten further outta hand than i had expected, but i'm gonna stick with it to the end."

So, no, I never said the entire department was out against me. What i can't figure out is why the LT is so on her side? I asked him that to his face during an interview, and he said, "You just don't get it. This is about the Honesty Issue." He appears to not want me in the department.. (Maybe something about conversation of me wanting his job J/K)

But i hope that clears the waters for you, as to what else must be going on. Do I understand it? No. But I do know that I would never work for the LT again, and if it wasn't this stupid issue, i'm sure another would have been created 6 months down the road. That can be the problem with smaller departments...

There is always something else but we are not there to know. Police Officers are an interesting lot. I have experienced some pretty juvenile displays of gossip and pettiness in this profession that I have never experienced working anywhere else. It's kinda like high school but with guns and badges ( I was gonna say just guns but I don't think that alone is a distinction anymore form high schools). At first I was dumbfounded by it and amazed. Now I just ignore it all, do my job, and go home. So who knows?
