A sad day...

I know i haven't been here long, most don't know me, and probably most don't want to.. but regardless, i've enjoyed my time spent here, reading posts, laughing with myself and learning a little about audio in the meantime.

The short of it is this, it's the christmas time of year... and i'm losing my job. I don't really want to get into all the details now, but it comes down to political BS on the force, and i'm taking the brunt of it. Its really hard on me, as i've never had to go thru this kinda thing before. My wife is pregnant with our second daughter, and well... its just rough. The chief said she'd let me know on the 22nd of Dec if i will have to resign/get fired. If anyone cares, all thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Again, don't mean to take up you guys valuable time, just wanted to pass it on.

Merry Christmas.

That sucks, especially this time of the year. Remember though, when one door closes another opens.

    David,

Sorry to hear that, especially during the holidays like this. I know it is easier said than done, but count your blessings, while waiting for your second arrival. As Jesse said, one door closes, another opens. Take care.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

    Hey MrNightly,

Hang in there. I too am in law enforcement and I know what a mess it can be. It's a big country with lots of police departments. Are you a member of PBA? Can you appeal? If that's not possible, just resign and start somewhere else. Don't give them the satisfaction. Whatever happens is meant to be and you will be ok.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but you will come out of this better than you are now.

Just plan to leave now and get yourself in that mindset. Start picking out places you would like to live and get your resume up to date.

If you choose to share where you would like to be (both physically and professionally) I am sure we will help where we can. (many of us either are, or have friends/family that are, in law enforcement.)

Wow... Thanks for the support. That means a lot to me. We have a new Lt, who just got promoted about 7 months ago, and he's already fired 1, i'm on the line, and he has 3 more lined up. And the funny thing is, none of it is because of performance. It's like he has a hate list, and he's just going down it.

But you guys all are right... something better is ahead. I am going to apply at KCMO, PD if they give me the option to resign. The problem is, what the Lt is pinning on me, is Character related. He is claiming i'm a liar, when there is no proof and it's totally stupid. He wrote a 8 page report that he read to the Chief as to why i should be fired. It's just crazy, that's all i can say. So, i'm afraid if I do get fired for "being a Liar," (Which, in our interview with the Chief, I caught HIM in a lie, and called him on it, which he just slammed his fists on the table and said I was lieing again... If only i had my tape recorder.. but I sidetrack) I won't be able to get another job ever in Law Enforcement.

But... But.. there's always buts eh? ;) Anyways, thanks and i'll be around. I've brushed up my Resume and talked to a recruiter yesterday at KCMO. We'll see.

    Thanks guys,

    MrN,

My wife wants me to get fired for "Shooting the idiot," instead of this. Ha.

    Begin Rant -

BTW, the backstory is as follows (If anyone really cares): We have a female Sgt, who is known for always being a jokester/comidian and NEVER serious, ever. Did i mention that she's never serious? Ok, good. well anyways, we have always bantered back and forth, making fun of each other, threatening to duke it out, ect. One day, I enter dispatch to chat with the dispatcher's, and in walks this Sgt. She jokingly asks me if I signed in, which i replied jokely, "Of course." She then proceeds to chat with someone else, and i never think about it again. As i'm leaving, I realize i forgot to sign in, at which time i sign in and out. I then head home. It should be noted that it's a running joke admists officers at my work, to ask, "Did you sign in?" Everyone says it to everyone. Just remember that ;)

Someone aparently saw that i signed in and out after telling the Sgt i had signed in, and told the LT. The LT claims I lied to the Sgt, and here we sit. I explained that i believed she was just joking around and refering to the running joke, (Which she admitted that she always jokes too) to which the Lt responds, "You're not fit to be an officer," and should be fired. So whatever. I explained to the Chief that I was just joking, and that I thought the Sgt was just joking, but i'm sure they will take the Lt's word over mind.

Such petty stupid thing to get fired over don't you think?

    End Rant ;)

You're freakin kidding me, right!!!! It seems to me that the LT has some serious power issues. I'd really look into getting a lawyer if I was you. Would the Sarge back you up? I'd understand if it were sexual harrassment or insubordination, but this is lame for sure. Have you ever been reprimanded before???
Get a lawyer!!! I'm sure there's one for you guys, right?? If not, there are plenty that would take the case for the publicity. Sue those ****. This is the biggest crock of **** I've ever heard. You'd think they'd want to keep a seasoned veteran.

No, she doesn't admit to "joking about Dispatch." But only to Joking all the way around as a person. The dispatch joking is usually between officers but i can't say she's joked with me about it before. But no, she's got to CYA, and she's saying she wasn't joking. Of course, she's the same sgt who tried to get another female fired because, get this, both are Lesbians, and the Officer didn't want a thing to do with the Sgt. Ha. So no, the Sgt will only cover her own ****, and not mine.

We do have the FOP, who i have contacted. They say this is the most incredulous excuse to fire anyone ever... so we shall see! If the Chief rules against me, we will definately see about a court case ;)
