Thought it might be fun to find out what other hobbies our fellow members have.

I myself am into many different things. Such as: Photography, PCs, Biking, Snowboarding, Car Fanatic, R/C Cars & Planes, Beer Brewing, General DIY and tweaking.

So what does everyone else like to do when they aren't fine tuning or upgrading their systems? Don't be shy! :)

I've been doing a lot of snowboarding lately. I went up a couple times last year (for the first time) and had a good time so I bought a season's pass at an incredible price and have been going up about four times a week since the season started. Right now I'm working on a switch 180 but having a hard time because I can't really ride switch well... I can land the 180 going regular and landing switch fine but just can't ride switch without hitting the jump in a sketchy and painful manner :p

I'm a bit into photography and biking as well but they're not very high priority. I'd like to get back into archery because it's pretty fun but right now I just don't have enough time to commit to it. I used to be really into it (three nights a week) a couple years back shooting indoor recurve at 18 meters. I had the privilage of going to the same place as one of the top recurve archers in Canada who slowly became my coach. It's a really good way to relax and you meet some interesting people at tournaments or a local club.

I used to be into flying. after 300+ hours and many price increases, i haven't flown in 3 years. now, i'm training for a marathon! it's coming up fast, too! 1/29 in miami. i figured, i'm 40 and i've always wanted to complete a marathon. on saturday my long run was 15 miles! it's hard work, but worth it! plus, it's cheeeeep! BTW, i refuse to change my habits or diet during my training. ;) i'll be the guy with the beer belly and skinny legs, lumbering across the finish line. :p so, when i peel myself away from the sda's, that's what i do. aside from sleeping and other bedroom gymnastical activities ;)

    2. Shooting (primarily handguns, though I have a home built CAR-15)

Hmm...I love music as a first passion, seems to go hand in hand with the audio. I've been playing guitar for a very long time. I like to go hiking, in fact, I plan on trying to go on a out of town hike every weekend this next year. Fishing (Ice and Open Water), Hunting (Deer, Pheasant, Turkey (Bow)) and would love to go on a Big Game hunt sometime. Spending time at the range with the arsenal and buying new toys.

Haha, well I guess it's a good thing I never really got into the r/c cars, then.

Mostly my passion is music, both listening to and playing. Unfortunately I don't make time to play the piano like I want, but I love it when I do find time to do it.

Reading about cars. Thinking about cars. Drooling/dreaming about cars. Wishing I had money for cars. Wishing I had a huge garage in the backyard, a huge stack of cash, and bunch of time to spend working on (and then getting them fixed when I mess 'em up! :p) cars.

I actively collected 1:18 or 1:24 (can't remember) die-cast cars a while back. The vast majority of them are Maisto that I bought from Sams Club (only ten bucks a pop!), ranging from a 1930's BMW to (two) '57 Belairs, to (two) C4 Corvettes, to (two) Ferrari F50's, to a Lamborghini Jotta SE, to a 1994 (I think?) McLaren, to a late 90's Mercedes Benz SL500. Pretty much anything if it was pretty. Oh, I also have a Mustang Mach 3 concept car. And Porsche 911. But all that's going on memory; haven't had 'em down out of the attic in at least two years. I have about 38 of them, so it's not a large collection, but it's a start. I'd love to display them in a HT room along with my car posters and models of engines (currently have a tricked out smallblock Chevy and Ford's SOHC 'Cammer' 427) whenever I get a nice big house of my own.

R/C cars were a 'hobby' for me for maybe a year, maybe less. Have a Traxxas Bandit, Traxxas TMaxx, two cheap (WalMart) R/Cs, and then an old (older than me) model 'Pumpkin' R/C that Dad got from work (Snap-On; even has a Snap-On box truck body on it). Planning on getting the TMaxx out next week when a friend comes over for Christmas break, assuming I can find some fuel for it.

Lifting weights, pushups, situps, (stationary) biking, etc. I wish those were some of my regular activities. Come to think of it, they are - if you only count about two days a month! :p

I also got into photography a few years ago, but that kind of fizzled out. Dad has a lot of Nikon film equipment since he was into it 'back in the day', so I had access to that. But I think half of my 'interest in photography' was an 'interest in gadgetry'.

As for sports, I love badminton. It's the only sport I'm truly addicted to, though due to my schedule I haven't played for about two months. Used to play two nights a week, at least three hours each.

I'm going to do it this way, starting at the top of my list is:

    1) playing golf, just can't find the time to do enough of it because of the following:

    2) spending time with the wife and kids

    3) custom built handcrafted furniture (people just won't leave me alone, already 3 months behind)

    4) remodeling the house in between building furniture

    5) and of course, my Home theater room

Looking forward to my two weeks off after Christmas. Hopefully I get time to enjoy all the above hobbies.

I can believe it! We have had three injuries on the court that I can think of. The kind of badminton I play is most definitely not a 'social game'. We play hardcore! From finesse at the net to those almost-impossible-to-return 200mph smashes. Lemme see if I can post a few pics I've taken.

EDIT - You can see the birdie in the air as it's starting to come down. That guy is preparing to deliver a smash, and he smashes hard! I'm just glad I was taking the picture and not on the receiving end of that smash!

These days I devote most of my free time to speaker design/building. During the summer I play a lot of golf, and take bike rides/rollerblade with my wife. I also play a lot of computer games and do my share of video gaming/movie viewing in my theater.

Over the last year I've collected quite a few woodworking tools and I hope to hone my skills to the point where I can build just about anything I want. My goal is to be able to build a kitchen, complete with hand-made cabinets, table, benches, the works. THAT would be awesome!

I like the Home Theater hobby the most but I also am getting into my new Dmax.(GMC 2500)
I think I will be adding more power soon. (Right after I get a new 7 channel amp)
I also like guns, I have a few but not enough real nice ones.
Got a small collection of die-cast cars, only the ones I think are cool.
I have a huge Pez collection. Thats right PEZ the little candy things. I probably have over 200 of them now but as soon as I find a nice sealed display then the kids will figure out what I do not have and hook me up for presents. (can't wait)
I got into rc cars till I hit the $2000.00 limit and now they are in the rafters of the garage waiting for me to get into it again.
I have a Harley that rarely sees the street anymore but hopefully this summer.....
I also like to work as a Shadetree machinist. I have some good little machines in my shop and like to make stuff out of metal.

    Thats all for now.
