okey dokey. Just an update on the movie. It was very good. Just as good as the original but a totally different movie.

My only disappointment was the Empire State Building scenes. Compared to the '33 version they were terrible.

I was actually surprised by the much hyped "slow" first hour. It was good, didn't lag and built up the characters quite nicely.

Special effects for Kong were top-notch. Episode III is **** outta luck come Oscar time.

A nice blend of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Titanic (A LOT of inspiration from that flick), The Goonies, and the 1933 version of Kong.

Good movie. But i'm still in a 6year slump. Chronologically speaking the last great movie to hit theatres is still Sam Mendes' American Beauty imo.

this is a classic case of why the typical movie-goer in America sucks. You take an amazing movie with amazing acting, special effects, character buildup, and plot and people **** because it was long. Basically, for these people to be happy, the movie needs to be 90 minutes (lord knows their attention spans can't take it) and needs to be crammed with pointless explosions and action with no plot/point whatsoever.

I'm sorry, but this is by far the best movie that's been out in a very long time. The absolute only thing that should've been changed (slightly) was the T-rex scene. It was a little to long and had to much flipping and grabbing and punching and... you get the point. That is the only part of the movie that I thought should've changed. A buddy at work was bitching because there was to much about Kong and the girl. Dear god, heaven forbid they actually explain anything or make it feel/seem real. I thought it was amazing in every way and did not feel like the 3 hours it was. I was literally thinking "What can they do for the next half hour" right before it ended. Impressive.....very impressive.

    Toxis' two thumbs up.

The more I think about the movie, the more I like it. I just wish it could have been longer. I hope PJ does an Extended Edition like he did with the LOTR films.

um... maybe i misread your post Toxis- But I never complained about the length. If anything, I gave praised about the "slow" first hour.

Most of my favorite movies of all time are over 150 minutes in length.

I too thought that it was a little long. I did like the whole idea of character buildup but it seemed too dragged out and unnecessary to be that long (the beginning). Other than that I really enjoyed the movie (despite taking two attempts to watch it after falling asleep about an hour into it ;) ).

I just came back from seeing it.

I'm going to agree with that it felt long as well.

The good news is that the crowd/audience was really hush hush and nothing obnoxious.

I really didn't like the movie that much. i don't think it's any less than average, so don't think like that. Just don't think it was THE movie of the year..though I'm not sure what would be at this point.

I think there was too much hype. I liked the cgi/action and characters as much as everyone else, but still agree with the length of time for the death of king kong and the trex scene as well was good, but it was repetitive.

The whole stampede thing i liked.

I thought the "heart of darkness" thing was interesting b/c I did my High school final english report over it.

All in all a decent flick. A few people walked out halfway it just wasn't their cup of tea.

I'll try again once it's on DVD, maybe I wasn't immersed enough...

We just got back from seeing it and I liked it quite a bit.

The CGI animation was the best Ive seen. That looked like a real gorilla!

The action scenes were awesome as well, especially the fight with the T-rex's.

The chick was extremely hot and I never got tired of looking at her. Jack Black was another story. His very presence irritates me.

The one thing this movie did that the others didnt was get me to like Kong! I was hoping that they would pull a twist and let him get out alive! So thats pretty signifigant to me that Jackson was able to get me to get attatched emotionally to a 25 foot ape!

The Empire State Building scene was just unreal! I kept feeling like I was going to fall the whole time I was watching it! My wife was holding my hand and leaned over and whispered, "your hands are getting sweaty you big puss. Its just a movie."

I had no problem with the length. It was a good story with great action so it went by fast. I left feeling like I had been on a 3 hour ride or something and not stuck in an uncomfortable chair the whole time.

Bottom line, I thought it was a great movie. Not as good as Episode 3 but probably right below it. A good judge for me is if Ill buy it new when it first comes out rather than waiting for it to hit the $5 or used bin and Id have no problem shelling out $25 hard earned bones for this one.

 God. I hate theaters. I hate people even more.

I got off of work early and got to the theater at ten to midnight and picked up my ticket. I was surprised they weren't sold out. I get my popcorn, soda, etc. The lights finally go down and the commericals start. One problem, the film is backwards. Audio and video were reversed. Someone finally gets up to tell one of the dipshits that works there. The problem is fixed, and movie trailers play fine. The trailers were crap, though. Nothing interesting. Remakes mostly. The movie finally starts. Another problem, though. The bottom half of the picture is on top, and the top half was on the bottom. *sighs* Is it really that hard to play a **** film? Someone gets up immediately to report the problem. After 5 minutes, the picture is corrected. Then it **** up again. The movie is stopped for 10 seconds so they can get their heads out of their asses and they finally fix the problem. But they don't restart the movie or anything. They just let it play. Whatever. Fine. I've missed the first 5 minutes of the film I've been waiting all year to see because someone doesn't know how to do their **** job. No big deal, I guess. The rest of the film plays fine. But there's another problem. There is a group of guys near the top of the stadium who can't shut the **** up. They sit there and make moronic comments and laugh at things that aren't funny. I try my best to ignore them. Once the group gets to Skull Island, though, I started to get really pissed. These fucktards laugh like the movie is the funniest thing they've ever seen. By this point, they've completely ruined the movie. I sit there. Pissed. Wanting to leave. Kong finally makes his appearance in the film, and these punk pieces of puke just burst out laughing. That's when I got up to leave. I told the manager about the problem, and, while he did give me a pass, he didn't apologize about the problem, and he seemed rather smug about it. Whatever, I thought. I take my free pass and leave.

This was without a doubt the worst movie-going experience I've ever had. I don't know who I'm more pissed at, though. The retards who work there, or the dickheads they let in. And people wonder why boxoffice grosses are down.

The film itself, though, was great. Well, the first hour was great. I'll have to wait till later today to see the rest...

that sounds like the experience me and a friend of mine had when we went to go see titanic in the theater.the people behind us were yuking it up through the whole movie.when the iceberg scene came up my friend turned around and asked them if they could shut the **** up.didn't hear a peep from them again.

as far as KING KONG goes it was a bit slow in the beginning.jack black's performance,i believe was over the top.the skull island special effects didn't seem quite as good as the city special effects.but despite those things i really enjoyed the movie and i'll be bringing my kids to see it.i would highly recommended this flick to anyone who asks.

Most enjoyable movie experience I've had in a while. Escapism at its finest. Thought the effects were great and sets were well done. The first scene with the island natives was one of the best of the movie. They were amazing, and terrifying!

Sure, a little too long, same experience could have been acheived with a little edit room cuts (Brontosaurus stampede, bugs in the crevasse, T-rexs in the vines, silly ice rink scene). Don't mean full scene should go but simply shorten it a bit. Also confused with some of the sub-plots that went nowhere such as Jimmy, the "wild boy". Figured he would have something later on the island but nothing really happened??

Anyway, I loved the movie and thought Naomi was very good. Agree with others that you really felt for Kong. All in all a great time.
