looks like a combination of Titanic, Raiders and the '33 Kong.
Perfect. -
I might even try to tolerate the theater folk for this one.

If I trek to the theater for it, it'll be late January. It does look good but I'm in no hurry to see it or tolerate the theater folk for it. Plus, it will look and sound better in my HT.If...

 God. I hate theaters. I hate people even more.
I got off of work early and got to the theater at ten to midnight and picked up my ticket. I was surprised they weren't sold out. I get my popcorn, soda, etc. The lights finally go down and the commericals start. One problem, the film is backwards. Audio and video were reversed. Someone finally gets up to tell one of the dipshits that works there. The problem is fixed, and movie trailers play fine. The trailers were crap, though. Nothing interesting. Remakes mostly. The movie finally starts. Another problem, though. The bottom half of the picture is on top, and the top half was on the bottom. *sighs* Is it really that hard to play a **** film? Someone gets up immediately to report the problem. After 5 minutes, the picture is corrected. Then it **** up again. The movie is stopped for 10 seconds so they can get their heads out of their asses and they finally fix the problem. But they don't restart the movie or anything. They just let it play. Whatever. Fine. I've missed the first 5 minutes of the film I've been waiting all year to see because someone doesn't know how to do their **** job. No big deal, I guess. The rest of the film plays fine. But there's another problem. There is a group of guys near the top of the stadium who can't shut the **** up. They sit there and make moronic comments and laugh at things that aren't funny. I try my best to ignore them. Once the group gets to Skull Island, though, I started to get really pissed. These fucktards laugh like the movie is the funniest thing they've ever seen. By this point, they've completely ruined the movie. I sit there. Pissed. Wanting to leave. Kong finally makes his appearance in the film, and these punk pieces of puke just burst out laughing. That's when I got up to leave. I told the manager about the problem, and, while he did give me a pass, he didn't apologize about the problem, and he seemed rather smug about it. Whatever, I thought. I take my free pass and leave.
This was without a doubt the worst movie-going experience I've ever had. I don't know who I'm more pissed at, though. The retards who work there, or the dickheads they let in. And people wonder why boxoffice grosses are down.
The film itself, though, was great. Well, the first hour was great. I'll have to wait till later today to see the rest... -
This is one of the reasons I stick into this hobby. Theaters are WORTHLESS. Until they bring back ushers / vigilantes with rifles, it's more annoying to go than anything. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

MSkezer,
That sucks big time.
I think the people who work a theaters often do not understand how important it is for some of us to just disapear into the movie.
I like to get totally involved in a movie. I do not want to hear the sound to fluctuate I do not want the picture to stop, skip, flip, rotate, gyrate, pulsate, or flutter.
I just want to get lost in the experience.
Thats why I got into this hobby in the first place.
My last Imax experience was for the first tripple X and the fire alarm went off twice.
The first time they just let the movie run and the second time they stopped it and gave us the free passes.
Rather stay home.Skynut

Really... I have never had a problem with theathers... Of course, I don't have a super-uber HT either yet to compare them too, but I still find it enjoyable to sit and watch a show on the big screen. Maybe you bring the bad luck with you?
The only genre that i have trouble with in the theater is Horror. All the little tini-bobbers come in there and scream bloody murder at the scary parts, and then they laugh. Oh well. I guess i've always grown up enjoying the theaters, sorry to hear that you didn't/don't.
My perspective is, if nobody goes to the theater, the Excellent films won't get the recognition they deserve. Besides, isn't that half of what wins them an oscar, how it did at the theater?
Regardless, I still can't wait to see it.

MSkeezer, that is exactly why I will not see this in the theater, it looks to be too good of a film to see it that way. I'll wait for the dvd and see this the way it is ment to be seen.If...

Well, the first hour was really good. Story's good. Acting's good. It moves a little slow, but once you get to the island, things really speed up. However, I can't comment on the rest of the movie because I walked out as soon as Kong showed up...
I'll be seeing the movie later today since I got a free pass, and if everything goes well, I'll let ya know how the film turns out. -

i think i'll go out and buy the 1933 kong on DVD today. It's supposed to be a special edition/ criterion edition of some sort.
-
Well. I caught it before work last night. The audience was much better this time around. But the presentation was just as bad as the night before. The first hour played fine with no problems at all. Once the group got to the island, though, the surround and center channels would cut out every 15-20 minutes. It did this for the rest of the film. *sighs* I'm not going to rant about it, though. I'm just not going to step foot in the theater again. If they can't present a film properly and make it an enjoyable experience, they can goe ef themselves.
The film itself was pretty good. Good action, great acting, and one of the best "love" stories I've ever seen. This thing managed to bring tears to my eyes at least 3 times, and that's no easy feat. Thing that could have been better, though: the music, special effects, and length. Not that it was too long. If anything, I thought it was too short. For the most part, though, the film was hugely enjoyable. B+ -

I'll wait for King Shlong to go on video, and it'll be when ever I get around to watching it.

I may take the wife out to see this in a theater but it won't be until mid-January, I want to avoid the crowds. It does look good.If...

Alright... I just got back...
*** MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ***
Let me break this down into numbers
1) The movie is long. And it feels long. If they would of cut down the getting the voyage started and the actual voyage down to about 20-30 minutes. It would of been alot better, alot faster paced. But the beginning is about 45 minutes to one hour and it really feels like 45 minutes to 1 hour. Incredibly long beginning with absolutely nothing to offer. This sucked.
2) The middle of the movie is great, with only a few slow parts - but otherwise a very fast paced, action packed middle.
3) Kong should of died ALOT faster. Seriously... I thought it was great until they dragged it out till it was like...enough already.
4) The graphics are absolutely AMAZING. Anyone who says the original is better for anything other than originality is very close minded. The entire time you are completely attached to this monsterous creature and its feelings... you get an idea of WHO it is and what it is trying to do... it LOOKS real. The dinosaurs, other animals in this movie are EXCELLENT, again - VERY real... everything about this movie is class A in the animation department. No stop motion clay mation BS can top this and you'd be insane to say otherwise...
Just EXCELLENT!
4) Overall I enjoyed it very much, once the beginning passed - I was pretty involved in the movie... everyone was laughing, some people were crying - just a great overall experience. But the beginning is really bad enough to almost forget this movie ever existed though. It really is THAT boring and there just isn't that much development going on - we get an idea who the main characters are in the first 10 minutes so the other 30-40-50 minutes is about useless...
Overall, it would be worth a rent and a buy if you can look past the beginning. Look forwards to great SQ.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
The numbers include two fours there Sid.
Thanks for the r undown thoughIf you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

I think me and the missus will venture out and see this one tonight.
Im giving it the benefit of the doubt because Peter Jackson directed it and the previews look very good. Plus Im a big fan of well done CGI.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I agree with the movie theater comments. I went their with my girlfriend last night and I hated it! First thing that was annoying was the amount of people there. I hate being in a theater full of coughing sneezing people that keep distracting me. I'm no germaphobic but thats just annoying. Then, someone behind us had brought a 4 year old kid who wouldnt shut the **** up. He was obviously scared because he screamed and cried most of the time. They stayed through the entire movie. A group of people in front of me came in smelling like the worst weed I have ever smelled. IF you are going to smoke weed, atleast smoke good weed. Not only was it disgusting but they laughed at everything and made comments that didn't make sense at all. And to top it all off, someone decided it would be a great ideato turn up the movie really loud. Their sound system counldn't handle it because the center speaker was harsh and distorting. Great movie, sucky experience.

ok. enough putting it off. I'll go see it today.
if i end up crying over a freakin' silverback i promise i'll tell you guys. -
I can't believe people aren't going crazy over this movie. It was amazing.

Well, F*CK!! I didnt get to see this over the weekend.

The whole movie wasnt amazing...
The last 2 hours of the movie was though...
Well worth it though, IMO.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
The misses and I went to see it Saturday night. I thought it was a great film. The only thing that I didn't care for was the Brontosaurus stampede. Thar was the only time that the CGI wasn't up to snuff, imo. I thought they really did a tremendous job with Kong. He looked pretty real to me.....almost like they filmed a silverback and superimposed him in.
Naomi did a great job, too. When she would look at him, those eyes..........the eyes tell the whole story.
Overall a solid 8 0f 10 in my book. Not too many get graded that high in my book, very, very few. It's definitely a must see on the big screen."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Alrighty, FINALLY going to go see the movie in like a half an hour, then it's off to Wilkesboro for family stuff until the 26th.
All you guys/gals have a great Christmas/whatever and have safe trips.
Later.
