Don't try another power strip yet. Remove that from the equation. Plug them babies into the wall and check it. It won't hurt to do so for a little bit....um...just not during a lightening storm or anything :D

I would agree, assuming you have enough wall outlets, this is really the recommended option if you check the power amp manuals.

For decent powerstrips, look for those with 14 awg or lower(thicker) cable. Go with 10 awg if you're plugging in several amps. I had a 10 awg powerstrip custom made for this purpose. You could have an electrician install more power outlets close to your A/V set up instead of a power strip.

Hard to believe but even a headphone amp like the Musical Fidelity x-can also benefits from a high gauge powerstrip despite the 12 volt adapter. :P

I have a fealing it could be the Xover again. What are the chances of that happening.
In fact I think at the time I had all the speakers hooked up through the Yamaha, maybe it fried the same Xover twice.
Pretty far out there, but you never know.

    I see.

Well, might as well have it 'warrantied' and replaced. Annoying part would be to have to 'burn' them in again. :(

Now wait a minute. Just ONE of them sounds bad? And you can swap the speakers left to right and the problem follows the speaker? And you can positively identify that one speaker sounds different than the other one? What exactly have you done so far, in regards to the speaker parts, crossover, etc.? Are you sure that everything is wired correctly? Crossovers rarely just "go bad", though I guess it can happen, and you're not likely to "fry" one unless you're applying massive amounts power and exceeding the voltage capacity of the caps or something. I'd say that the odds of it happening twice, which is what I it sounds like when you say

"I have a fealing it could be the Xover again."

are extraordinarily slim. You replaced the crossover once already? Am I reading that right? Did it help?

Really, if you think you have a component problem with the speakers, you need to contact Polk CS directly and talk to them about it, instead of the forum.

Since you have already been inside the speaker I'm sure this is a long shot, but....at work we once had a brand new LSi9 that sounded weak and thin. Upon removing the drivers we found a loose connection on one of the woofers. After reconnecting it was perfect. Might be worth double checking.

Hope you get it fixed! :)
