More computer drama for Early B. (when it rains, it pours...)
I often record lectures to cassette from my computer. I have a boombox hooked to a Soundblaster Audigy 2 internal soundcard. Been working fine for the past couple of years. No problems. A few months ago I began to get some major static on my recordings. I changed out boomboxes and the static was still there. I even replaced the cable, but the static remained. I'm wondering if the problem could be my soundcard. Maybe a solder joint is loose or something.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Sounds like a loose solder joint to me. Those jacks on sound cards aren't exactly notoriously strong, and they tend to get a lot fo stress, especially if you plug and unplug often. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

That's a tough one, because it could be almost anything. Sounds like a connection problem to me, but that's just my best guess. Does moving the connecting cables seem to make any difference in the static?
Edit: And, what bobman said ^^^

Static comes primarily out of one speaker. If I transpose the RCA connectors on my boombox, I get static from the opposite speaker.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

the problem lies in the connection.
