i'd say just accent/trim... it's not a shorting ring, which is the second thing that came to mind, cause those go around the pole piece... i vote that it's trim, the piece that it's trimming is the spider support...

That's the prototype I built. The actual finish is more like the SR component. They will be available in a 10 and 12 SVC and DVC. We have working off-tool prototypes being tested now. These things have some sick excursion.

funny looking basket - its different though - makes the magnet look like part of the basket... kinda cool that way - would make inverted mounts look way sexier than if the magnet was exposed completely.

    i like it.

true test will be how it sounds htough - thats all that really matters... althogh i imagine it will make me soil myself as well. good **** :)

blah blah blah "sound quality issues" blah blah blah.

    dude. get over it...lol.

if your vehicle is tricked out with SR series gear, and you choose to invert your subs, the only thing anybody would have to say bad about you is that you didn't buy THEM an SR sub to mount they way THEY wanted to.

We're counting on people inverting them, that's one of the things that drove us to offer another cast basket woofer. People have been complaining since the Momo Classic line died that they can't invert the current Momo or dB woofers. Not that they'd sound bad, just that stamped steel baskets aren't that impressive.

only a 10 and 12 are planned? so no 8" or 15" SR subs... what a shame :p
since this thread is SR related, i was wondering if an SR component set would feature an 8" midbass at some point, an uncommon size for midrange in a car, i know, but just imagine the smothness of SR with the lower register of an 8... mounted not in the trunk but up front with the rest of the music... <sigh>

hahaha i'm glad to see another "round" sub.

dude, remember a couple years ago when all you saw was funny shaped subs?

I mean, Xtant's been doing the hexagon for forever now... so not including them you had...

    - bazooka triangles
    - kicker L squares
    - sony pentagons
    - various knockoffs doing the same kind of crap.

i was half expecting abstract art subs next where the basket is like a trapezoid and the cone has neon lights with laser beams. were that to occur, i'd surely take a holy dump upon said speaker.

the SR's are what polk is all about - BEEFY performance, extremely refined and appreciable sound quality, and that "plain jane" look... that "black tuxedo" kind of thing... nothing flasy, simple silvers, black, and greys... with a little "polk audio" script on the cone. but that's the kicker -- when you do something like that, and the speaker is so immensely technologically awesome, you end up with the most badass look on the planet...

i am 100% in support of the look, basic coloring idea, and cast basket of the SR subs.
