Sony SXRD

I am about to pull the trigger on a 50" Sony SXRD
replacing my 55" mitsu...Have you guys seen the picture on this 1080p tv?
I can safely say it is the best projection tv out there in terms of picture quality. It is not a LCd projection, SXRD is what sony calls their brand of the Lcos technology where the images are reflected onto 3 layers of silicon, red, blue and green...

It is dropjaw quality video, my only regret is not getting the 60" but I hear the 50 is a tad brighter so I don't mind much.
I was leaning towards a plasma but since I will use my 360 on it I had reservations even with the guys at the AVS forums saying that image retention on a plasma is an old myth, since it is no longer an issue.
On the SXRD there is no Image retention (Burn in)
I just wanted a flat TV, but then I saw the picture on the SXRD and that really made my mind up, so film like, unbelievable, go check one out

Be sure to give a detailed review once you get it. Sound and Vision had a good review of it a couple of months ago. If I had the $$$$, it would be on my short list.

The New Sony SXRD tv's are simply killer. If you didn't buy it after seeing it, I can only ask why? Your not going to beat the picture quality in it's price class no way.

Mitsubishi DLP has a long way to go to beat this set. I would own one myself if I was in the market for another table top.

Why does Sony have to make such nice TVs? I hate the company so much, and can easily avoid almost anything they make.... but their TVs are just so good... what to do?!
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

How much does the 50" weigh? The CC.com specs say 13.8 lbs. Does not seem right.

    Crutchfield says 94.8 lbs. Eesh.

COMPLETELY agree.......ever since I went through the hell of owning one of their laptops, I've been good about staying sony-free........the TV's are tempting though.

Why hate on a label? if they make a good product and it works for yeah, I see no reason to hate. leaves you with less options.

I usually don't follow the hating of labels for hating sake, but Sony's bad. Everything they do is to make the consumer's life more difficult. They conform to no standards. Everything they make is proprietary. Even different generations of their OWN products are not compatible with each other. (examples : their products use proprietary Sony memory stick, but never SD or MMC, not even as an option; MiniDisc - a great idea that never took off because they didn't allow anyone else to make it)

And I had quite a few quality problems with their products (CD players mostly) years back before I swore them off.

If they weren't such a big name, no one would put up with that kind of ****.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I went to CC to check out sale items, and saw the display on these RPTV. Simply awesome! Definitely be on my list for next year, once BlueRay player is available.

Personally, as much as I'm wanting a bigger set, I think there are too many things on the horizon to pull the trigger right now. I'm gonna give it a year or two (or until my set dies off) before I look at getting the latest and greatest today (granted, there will always be latest and greatest, but ya know)

Hey, I work at American TV, and that set is one of the best selling sets we have. It has a 1080p resolution, and a beautiful picture. I just wanted to congratulate you on a hell of a buy. If you have any questions, let me know.
