Thanks for all the thoughts and advice, fellas. I really appreciate it.

As for whether or not I get a lift...I dunno. If I do, it won't be until next summer. However, that is a big if seeing as how I've not gotten this approved with Dad. I think it's a great idea to go off-roading a bit with it stock and see how I like it. Though, my purpose for lifting it isn't off-roading; it's looks.

Supposing I do lift it, I'm really interested in Rubicon Express's 4.5" 'Super-Flex' kit. However, that's more than I'd want to spend ($1010) and doesn't come with shocks.

Frank Z - Just out of curiousity, what kind of lift and size tires are you running?

F1 - Had no clue you were into 4-wheelin'! What rig did you use?

I'm going to attach a picture of (a picture of) a Jeep that perfectly embodies the look I'm going for. What size lift and tires do you it has? (It's the yellow Jeep...and it's in Quadratec's catalog.)

    Thanks!

Naw, I bet he hated! (the lucky kid.....) :p

Looks like it was a lot of fun! Though you need some more downward travel for that first pic! :D

I've talked to Dad about wheelin', and I actually think he'll let me try it sometime. As for when or where I'll end up doing it I don't know yet. But so far there's some promise!

    AB,
Make sure you do it right and go with some experienced folks. It will make a world of difference. A few basics that you'll need to remember....
    1) A lead foot causes far more problems, breakage, and "stucks" than anything else.
    2) The people yelling "Get after it!", "Stomp on it Dude!!", or "Just punch it" aren't footing the bill to get ya towed home or for the repairs.
    3) If YOU don't feel comfortable attempting an obstacle, don't do it.

    MrBuhl.
No we headed home. About 20 minutes after completing the trail it started snowing pretty hard and the traffic was getting nasty as well due to the skiers heading home.

I'm waiting for some video from a few of the people we went with. I'll post a link if they get them hosted somewhere.

    Frank,
That is quite a suspension setup under that Jeep! ...NICE.

My 96' Ford 150 had limited slip front AND rear which made quite a difference when it comes to biting the dirt, mud, whatever. I like the looks of the Jeep Rubicon and the lockers but it wont engage over 25 mph, what good is that except for rock crawling?

    PnP,
The red components are a Hi-steer/Over the knuckle system I built. It's a lot tighter (and tougher) than the stock tie-rod and drag link.

    POLKOROLLA,
DAY-UM!! I can't imagine what the tires alone would cost.

i know sswaters spent b/t 2000 and 2500 for the 49" iroks - he is the original owner of that black jeep and it has been a never ending project since the day he bought it. it is going to sit about 6" higher once he gets the 2 1/2 ton axles under it, and then he plans to 4 link the rear

I bought an Old Man Emu 3.5" for an 04 Grand Cherokee and am quite happy. I am not sure about your model but Jeep has always had a lift amount that would not void your warranty. This amount is a good guideline as it would normally be about as high as one could go without drive shaft and joint issues.

I do not play in the mud but for general canyon crawling and soft sand my lift with a set of Cooper Discoverer ST in 245-75-17 has never failed to go where I have pointed the thing. On mine a 265 series tire will rub without a wheel change.

I was not asking for lift advice for my Land Cruiser LOL
It already has 6 inches of lift and 37's and lockers front and rear
    It primarily a trail truck
I get out about once a month
It just sucks to have to drive to the trails when I only get 10 mpg LOL
