sda blues

Well I've had some fun In the past couple of months. I've moved four times, and am now in an appartment. I decided the first thing I have to do is setup the system. Hooked the tv, the dvd, the vcd, and the playstation2 to the receiver, then comes time for the good stuff, screw the surrounds, i've got sdas who need surrounds. K all is hooked up lets see what we got. hum Is my left speaker not hooked up? no it's hooked up yup, i can hear it but it sounds flat. Oh s**t nothing is coming from the tweeter. well I guess I'll pull it out and see what's up. Took the trusty AA battery and tap the pos, and neg leads to it, and nothing no pop to be heard. so I guess in the moves one of the tweets decided it was tired of moving. Any how, now I have a pair of sda's that just are not right . And It's going to be a while before I will have extra cash flow to replace it. So I was wondering with all the people out there replacing their sl2000's with the latest and gteatest if some one would have one ling around they would just like to give away to a fellow polk owner. I would gladly pay for shipping, and for ever be thankful of the person who saved me from my panasonic satalites. If not thats o.k. polkies still rule, but not quite as much as sda's

well, i know the tweeter i have is blown, and not the poly switch, I hooked one of my smaller speakers up to the tweeter wires, and it works so i should be in good shape. now all i need is to rebuild the x-overs, and get a decent receiver (as it will be a while before i can afford seperates).

I now have my sda grin back .
Doro i can not thank you enough. I put on a quick test cd, some van halen pink flyod, and some self made techno, and a few others. I put the tweeter in mirroring the one in the other cabinet, and the spatial effect seems even more pronced than before, also, center stage is locked in like never before. my 2 year old is listening to bach right now. I think he can even tell the difference. Thank you so very much. I wish that i could repay you in some way, as you had just made christmas come early for me. Thanks again. -

just picked up a pair of infinity studio monitor 100, lady was giving them away. the foam surrounds on both woofers are junk, $ 23 dollars will replace both surrounds. They are direct replacements, and not just a genaric fits all type

Welcome to the forums.
Just for future reference... Poly switches don't actually blow (like a fuse). They trip (like a breaker) and then (unlike a breaker) reset themselves.
Enjoy your SDAs. -
I know what a poly switch is and know what it does. and if tripped to many times they will start to degrade, and possibly even not let electricity flow through them any more. Just like most electronics, over heat them too many times and they are cooked. Thanks just the same.Yeah might still be new(only here a year), might be young(30), but not a complete idiot.

You chose the wording of your post not me. I simply quoted you. It didn't sound like you were really clear from the onset which was "blown", the tweet or the poly switch. I've been around the block with the SDAs and their poly switches for some time and have yet to hear of one failling so bad it no longer allowed current to flow through it. In no way was I trying to insinuate that you are "a complete idiot".
You might want to take a chill pill. -
Sorry if I came off rude. Just going by experience with other poly switchs in other electronic devices I have had to repair

Thanks doro
