It sounds like your heart is in the right place and it is nice to see someone stand up to these jerks but on the other hand I would say you were quite lucky. I volunteer as a reserve police officer and even with a couple hundred training hours and countless duty hours I wouldn't get involved with a drunk jerk without a fully equipped duty belt (including the radio for backup) and body armor. You just don't know what impaired people will do. My best advise is to let the professionals handle it. It seems you witnessed plenty to make a report to child protective services if nothing else.
Please don't take this as a dis' - because your heart is obviously in the right place. I volunteered for a shift last Friday and delt with three seperate instances of people involved with drugs (probably all meth) and I must say they are just plain scary to deal with.
