If you don't like it, there probably isn't a sub made on the planet that you will like.

Congrats on a wise HT investment.

If you are coming from a lesser sub, you will be amazed. I have the PB12 plus/2 and am still amazed. In Batman Begins, there was a scene towards the end where they are driving the tumbler and I felt the bones in my legs vibrate. Weird feeling.

Not if he uses a high end sub cable. ;)

And don't forget to treat the cable properly, unless 10-15% better "performance" isn't your thing.

These guys are straight shooters that will even treat your DVD's for you too, so you get ALL the bass.

Awesome. Some guys spend money for their right foot, others on their ears.

Further derail, have you heard about the Cryo engine stuff guys are doing now - and I'm talking Nascar and what not, not just weekend shade-tree guys like the rest of us. I haven't persued whether it's fact or not, just water cooler talk.

I'm not convinced (it simply doesn't make sense to me), but then again, I haven't tried it either.

    Cheers,

No its a joke, its just not funny. I can see that this matters at extreme performance ends such as NASCAR, but I assure you that soccer mom XYZ doesn't have the driving skill to notice it.

This type of molecular manipulation in a unrelated field may actually bring cable/wire debates to an end once findings in something as unrelated as an auto part can show measureable improvements in performance.

The reason that we (audio/video) don't have definitive proof today, is that only the government has the need for precision audio needs. There is no comparable business model such as Nascar, NHRA, etc. to push the R&D mainstream.

As for how this pertains to our little a/v world, only NASA knows for sure.

    Way to go dude...

I'm not sure what other subs you have used in the past but it will be heads above any sub I heard at Fry's, Circuit City and Best Buy. Smooth and powerful.

So if cryo treatments improve auto parts, that proves it improves the sound of cables? Odd logic you have there. As you said, totally unrelated field.

These tweaks are so subtle our ears won't consistently hear the change, but in NASCAR it is a win/lose proposition so the $$$ seem justified. For NASA, it is a life/death issue so the $$$ are justified for the mission critical performance. For my audio, the personal $$$ just aren't there, so I'll use the best I can afford until liquid nitrogen prices come down a little. :D

I received a new SVS PC-Ultra on Friday, but I am not going to get to hear it till Christmas. May wife has already wrapped it up and it is one big heavy box. It says it weighs in at 80lbs but feels heavier than that to me. However I am not going to have to shake it to try and guess what it in it and I will have to look all surprised when I open it so the kids don't know that I knew already.

Don't feel too sorry for me since I have a new Denon Receiver, Denon universal SACD and DVD audio player, 3 monobock outlaw amps, two new LSi15's, and a new LSiC that I have been enjoying for only about a month now. The sub was just my final piece in upgrading our living room system.
The LSi15's in particular are really impressing me.

i'd cut small holes just big enough for the power cord and sub pre and bump away. just pretend the box it's in is a sort of basstrap. get good and liquered up first. it'll help with the effect of listening "out of the box".
