:D Well, my new Denon AVR3806 has finally arrived. It was sitting in the box for a couple of days before I could get to installation/connection (work before pleasure)……..one has to work to afford these toys.

I opened the box and first thing took out the new Denon RC-1024 touch screen remote control. The remote is lot narrower in width than the predecessors’ 3805 RC-969 remote. You don’t need two hands to operate this one. Also, the cool blue EL backlight on the touch screen is visible during daylight. Very nice remote! You guys who are considering 3806 will really like this one.

Next, I pulled out the 3806 manual and the fun begun. After about 30 minutes I found this manual quite easy to follow and straight forward. I guess the trick to understand any manual is to read between the lines, if you know what I mean. I didn’t have any real difficulty to follow the manual and connecting drivers and all components for 5.1 setup. My rig is configured 5.1 setup, so I Bi-Amp the front main speakers. (WOW…. a few months ago I didn’t know how to connect DVD player to my TV). I guess one can learn quite a bit from these forums THANKS GUYS!!!

Next, time to turn the receiver on. Well, not yet! Before I did turn on the 3806 I poured myself a nice glass of “Crown Royal” heated in the microwave for 12 seconds. WOW what a nice aroma!! (You guys you should try this).

Next, I took out the supplied microphone to proceed with Audyssey MultEQ XT Auto-Setup and Room EQ. I mounted the mic on camera tripod and adjusted the height to ear listening level as recommended for the best/accurate reading results. The Auto-Setup and equalization is quite simple and easy to do as long as you follow the OSD procedure. The “Crown Royal” helps a lot as this process takes a little time and you have to be patient till this is done before you save the settings.

Next, I have programmed the new remote. I entered the codes for my DVD, TV and cable box. To my surprise I was able to operate all my components with the Denon RC-1024 touch screen remote control. WOW………no more looking for multiple remotes in the house!!

By this time my glass of “Crown Royal” was empty and it was time to take a break and get another refill................This is fun :D

Now, I was ready to play my favorite “Diana Krall” disk. My previous receiver Sony STR-DE897 didn’t do any justice for my drivers, so couldn’t wait to hear what this new baby can do.

I pressed the DVD “Play” button on the remote and set the master volume to (-25db) and waited. In about 5 seconds my room (13’x18’) filled with amazing sound that I never heard before. The soundstage was out of this World. The pure crisp sounds of all instruments were incredible and Diana’s vocals were awesome. After 20 minutes of listening (In Pure Direct Mode) I totally forgot about my “Crown Royal” and had to reheat it.

Anyway, this unit is awesome and I’m happy with purchasing Denon 3806. Next, upgrade to SVS sub and try movies using DD decoders and tweaking/playing with settings. Looks like this is endless………….$$$

Thanks to all of you guys on Club Polk forums for helping me to put my rig together!!!

OH………..OH……!!!…My wife got home and all wall pictures are crooked…….. :D

Nice man. Denon just keeps making excellent receivers. I like the 3806. I have Installed it a few times already. Honestly I still hate the remote. I think Denon should go back to regular push button remotes. But It really doesn't matter as I'm the only one who uses it. We put a Mx850 or mx950 on every job so control is never an issue.

    Have fun and good luck,

    sealin,

Dind't look at the XM as yet. My Sony doesn't have HDMI, will be upgrading soon. When you get yours let us know how you like it.
