So, this afternoon UPS dropped the Gemstone Blue Diamond amplifier. I completely underestimate the size of this beast. It weigh 83 freakin' lbs naked. I managed to carry it from the garage to the living room myself, but it was a beatch! and then, when I remeasured the in-wall shelf where it supposed to slide in, I figure I can have it protruding a bit in the front side. The beast depth is 22" and with banana plugs, it will be more like 24". Somehow when I ordered it, I thought I can make it work, and I was wrong!

I knew I was in trouble the minute I cracked open the box. Clearly, I need to come up with a different plan, since I don't think the shelf will be able to support its weight. Any suggestion?

PS: I have attached a couple pics to give you an idea on the size.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Hmm. Sounds like you're in a whole heap of trouble. You just need to send it to me and get this whole thing over with.

I heard nothing but praise on this beast. Here is the link:

    gemstoneaudio.com

I was told by the owner that they managed to pass cost saving to customer, since they don't have to do extensive CE certification and testing, for North America market - and factory direct. So, only NAFTA residents can get one..:)

specs should be on the site url above. I am not kidding, this is a beast, can't wait to hook it up, except it won't be tonight.

This looks like an idea solution for people who complain about their subs skipping across the floor. A subwoofer weight if you will...

Very nice polkatease! Looking forward to your review on the wee beastie.

yeah, it would really be an effective door stopper/sub weight

I'll compare the beast with B&K 125.7, so, review will come along...

Wow killer amp . Damn no shelf to put it on. Thats ok Bro , send it here my rack will hold it allday. I will also go as far as giving it a great reveiw. If you want to send the B&K as well, I'll conduct the shootout.

I removed the hinges on the in-wall cabinet. It looks like it might work, sitting on the very bottom base. I just need to rearrange the gears around, Panamax unit will need to sit on top of the amp. I guess it will become a weekend project.

well, one of the criteria that I passed along to Gemstone, is that, it has to run really cool. I have a fan installed, but mainly for the modded CDP (it runs really warm/hot). It was confirmed that this beast will run pretty cool, because it has pretty extensive cooling fins. We'll see how it goes, this weekend

The Rotel RB-1090 I had weighed 84 pounds and had wheels on the back. Made it easy to slide into a rack. One did have to watch for the fins on the front. They could leave an unwanted impression in the forearms.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of it.

So, here is what I ended up have to do. It works relatively well, not the best, but it works.

Initial impression of the sound: at lower volume, I get all the details from the Cremona. I would characterize it as weighty (no pun intended), and detailed, and I really do feel the energy even at the low volume, compared to the B&K. There are some more listening time to do, and I'll post some more, if anyone care.

It's a clear upgrade from the B&K, even though we all know that an amp is an amp is an amp.. :o

ps: it took me almost 3 hours to hook up the XLR, positioning, rearranging this beast, and the bruises I have is my proof. :)

I cannot even fathom how big that thing is. That B&K pre must be pretty large (possibly as big as my receiver?), and that amp dwarfs it! That's amazing!

And I'd personally like to know just how much you think it sounds like every other amp out there. :p
