Killer Interconnects, a MUST BUY

I would have to some what disagree, yes the wire inside the speaker is short but it is an extention of the complete path to the speaker it self. If I understand what you are saying, you could have a short piece of crappy wire in the middle of your expensive speaker wire and it would not degrade performance at all.

Wow, madmax001, I see you're dealing with extremely low voltages with those microphonics. Holy cow, MICROvolt signals? and in cable runs from 10 to 500 feet ? Whoa Nelly, talk about huge antenna effects and noise that can easily drown your microphonic signals. I confess this is way out of my field anyway, where I deal with 1.2V digital signals on a few micrometer long and 0.2 micrometer wide wires. But we have antenna effects there too !
Anyway, I would presume that, yes, static could be big real problem for you with that kind of setup and inductive charges as well with your very long wires. Must be very challenging! -
The tech articles are all good info. All cable companies talk about break in period.Even speaker, receiver,cd,dvd, etc companies say that after a preak in period will the product sound it's best.
I for one never believed in any of this non sense years ago. Then I started to listen to more and more out of the box wire, speaker's etc and noticed a harsh type sound.Ok this pair is broke or something.
When I bought my first pair of Monster interconnect's,I was more into owning them then what they were going to do for my system at the time.I didn't sit and listen to the cable.I never heard any difference all the years I owned that cable.
Then as time went on and I started spending more and more money on my system, helping friend's built there system's,I started to notice thing's didn't sound just right. After a couple of hours playing with the system, the sound started to change.
Here's how I will explain it then.........the sound went from harsh to warm...like someone turned down the trebble.Weird.
Buying new speaker's show the biggest need for break in overall.Just about every speaker I heard sounded better after hour's of playing then fresh out of the box.
Wire is a less of a notice unless you know exactly how your system sounded before you installed your new wire's.heard that sound, then listened after hours of play time.
I have done these test's more time then I want to admit(There is something wrong with me,I test everything more then use it).I heard and read all the thing's on break in, burn in on cable as well.As unexplained or explained as it is,I can hear a big difference in a brand new cable and a used cable.I perfer the used cable.
I have owned many different kind's of cable. They all sounded different. Some better than others. For the longest time I felt Monstercable couln't be beat.Boy was I wrong.
I will give Monstercable this......they do sound as good or better than everyother cable in there class. But they can't compelte with Transparent,Nordost,Mitt.
Thats a personal statement, not fact.
The cable I perfer now is transparent......it's the most musicial cable I have ever heard. The network block's really make a difference. If you want to know about them, go to the web site and read,I'm not going to quote.
All this talk is great, but if you can't hear the difference's,it won't matter to you.You need to just sit back, drink a cold one and listen for awhile.Don't get all wrapped up in tech babble.Sometime's it can take the fun out of it.Or hurt your brain.
Let your ears be the judge. At the End of the day, they are the be all end all.Dan

Good points mantis. I also hear more than I can explain.
pdebaum, that is not that unusual in my world. Not that you would care but since it's cool electrically, what we do is pass a 30hz signal into a coil in a sensor. About 1/2 watt. This sensor is under water. There are two electrodes on top of the sensor that pick up the signal in the water. It's the Faraday effect. It is somewhat like the opposite of a motor. As water moves across the top of the sensor, the signal picked up by the electrodes represents cutting the lines of flux (using the moving water) from the magnetic field. This signal is run through a dsp algorithem that detects 30 hz at a particular phase and that represents the velocity of the water! One foot per second is about 5 microvolts. Our meters measure 0.05 ft/sec to about 20 ft/sec. We use 30hz because the 60hz power grid frequency is easy to get rid of. The real problem we have is that people want to mount the hardware 30 to 500 feet away from the measurement site. At this point the problems are not that big since we recently started processing the signal in the sensor itself rather than an external unit. Now that took some doing! Pretty cool stuff though. It's funny how you can take one little effect and turn it into a reasonable product. Sounds simple until you actually try to do it. Thanks for your input!
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
Cool tech you have there madmax! Very ingenious; me likes it. Thanks for the great info.

I came across an ad at Audiogon, for a home-made, 2ft pair of RCA cables. I spoke at length with the seller and manufacturer, Frank Dai. I ordered a pair.
This is the best bang for buck upgrade I have EVER purchased. I tested these cables on my Nad system with both Polk R10 and B&W 601s2 shelf speakers.
They blew away the Monster 850i's, and Audioquest Copperheads (and those are GOOD cables!!!). I mean, night and day difference. Very open, very transparent. I could not believe the R10's actually came 'alive'. I am still in awe, and after 5hrs burn in, they seemed to sound even better.
$26 a pair, (2ft), and they are stunning to look at also. Frank uses WBT Silver Solder, which has the highest pure silver content on the market. The cables are heavy, and BEAUTIFUL, and WORK.....
This isn't a big risk guys, I suggest you take the plunge, and do it soon. He is developing his own company 'signal cable', and also offers digital, speaker, and power cables also......
His email is fdai@signalcable.com, I spoke with him last night, and he will be happy to talk with anyone on this forum. (Make sure to tell him you are from 'Club Polk')
I tried to arrange a group purchase at a discount, but as of now, this is still a hobby, not full time work, as each cable is assembled by hand, and made to order. Custom lengths are available also.
Pic below does not do justice, and the heat shrink is now black/white, but you get a general idea. Trust me on this one, its a minimal risk, and if you are HALF as pleased as I am, it will be worth it. I am going to change over EVERY pair of interconnects in my house. Sonically AMAZING.
Signal Cable
(yes, you can spend much, much more, but I think this cable will match or lay waste to ANYTHING under $100)
Cheers,
Russ
Is that refer to Signal Cable Analog 1?
Are any of those Analog 1 or 2 really sounds better than AudioQuest CopperHead?
Thank you.
PS. Sorry I found the thread 6 years later. -

Thats the beauty of the search feature.
In his opnion it seems he liked them better. The value could have been a factor I don't know. I have experience with Audioquest Copperheads , SC analog 1 and the silver series. I perfer the sound of the Copperheads. I think the Signal cables are nice and well built. You have to try them out for yourself to hear which cables sounds or allows your system to sound better.

haha i didnt realize this was such an old post. i was reading russ's review of this new guy making his own company called "signal cable" and i was like "what the...he's ripping off the real SC"....i have had experience with the copperheads and also the analog II from SC. i would say that for the money i prefer the analogs. on a budget you just can't beat it IMHO

Thank you Dan and Adam, helpful advice as always.
