I have an interview tomorrow with this company: http://www.multimatic.com/index.shtml

I really want the job, I am competing with about 7 other people for it. It is exactly what I want to do, and very close to where I live (20 mins away). It's an automotive engineering job. I would be in charge of doing testing, designing, research etc. It would be my first 'professional' job.

I just got back from the interview. It was pretty stressful, but I guess they always are.

After about 10 mins of small talk, it was fairly casual, and then he leans forward on the desk starring right at me, and says "Tell me, why should I hire you?" I practiced as many questions as I could before the interview. But when you're put on the spot like that it is hard to come up with something good, it feels like you're on the defensive. I think I did alright, I have good relevant experience, but so does my competition. If nothing else, it was a good learning experience.

    Thanks for the support!

Graham, if you put half as much into the interview as you do in your speaker building, I'll say you have a shot. you know he/she probably had his/her mind made up of you during the small talk. They saw your resume, they know why they should hire you....
And on top of all that you're a very personable guy, friendly, nice...all in your favor...

    all the best!!

    Gatempln,
I had a job interview once in front of a panel of 5 all taking turns with questions and different senarios,I ended up being on the defensive in a big way even as far as arguing with one on the panel. When it was finished I left feelling there was no way I'M getting this position even called my wife right after I was finished and told her forget that one,no way.
Short story long I ended up scoring the job :D.You just never know.
    Good Luck.

The day after the interview, you should send them a letter thanking them for the opportunity to meet with them about the job. Really it's to keep your name fresh in their memory and brown-nose a little.
